" The safe bet, Alice. You gotta play the odds. Since the odds are so high your friends are going to scare him off. Its hard to say the safe bet is worth much. ..." He paused

"For that bet Id only be willing to bet one of your pokemon on it. Low risk, low reward." PI looked at the two trainers

" No, I cant resit it. Hypno lets see what happens."

The two boys were made to fight each other. Neither had control of it.

"Now then Alice..once last chance. Show some courage...who will win!" He growled getting really close.

"IF you do not respond I am going to be forced to throw a weapon in there."

PI walked over to the window and noticed the large trainer sneaking towards the mess. He let out a laugh pulling out binoculars.

"What!" He growled his expression turning to laughter

" Well it turns out you were right..Your friends and Surge must have come to an agreement cause there goes Surge in van it looks like he has his crates.." PI picked up one of her pokeballs and walked over close again and put it back on her beldt (Or bag or wherever it was)

" Good job Alice." He smiled

Just downstairs Rocky had called out his team. When his pokemon got him in range he noticed the van with Surge was already to far ahead. In front of him he noticed Kyo, Rose, Stacy and Ty talking. In front of them some kid of electric field covering the ground and finally Meghan stuck in the tree.

Alice gritted her teeth. "You liar,' she growled. Anger boiled in her stomach. She had been right, but the PI didn't care. Worse, Surge seemed to have escaped with their Pokemon again. She could only hope her Pokemon had been left behind in the crate the grunt had mentioned.

Brandon and Paul began their fight. Alice wanted to look away but she couldn't move that much. She didn't know Paul very well at all, but he seemed gentler than Brandon. Brandon had experience fighting and was always quick to rush in. She could only hope she had read Paul's personality right. But even then, the boys were under control of the Hypno. For all Alice knew, the fight was rigged against her, no matter what she chose.

"Brandon will win," she said, struggling to move her hands. If only she could break free. She would need to distract the Hypno somehow but her lone Pokeball was out of reach.

Rocky arrived just in time to see the van drive off.

"Hello everybody! Things here look interesting. I see you found Meg... what happened to her?" Rocky looked at the electric field. "Anyone got a ground type? Both of mine are still missing."

Rocky looked for a way around the electric field to get to Meg.

"Who was in that van that took off? Was it Brandon and Paul going for help?"

Once again Kyo found herself regretting a decision. But what's done is done. Surge had left and Meghan was theirs. Kyo sighed a little with relief, but now there was a whole new obstacle to overcome. They had to get Meghan down. Kyo felt a bit flustered with Stacy complimented her but otherwise didn't really react beyond a smile in acknowledgement. Then it seemed Stacy had a similar idea to Kyo. Ty sent out his phanpy.

"I have a ground type as well, actually." Kyo pulled the pokeball off her belt and sent out her Sandshrew. "What is your idea?"

"That electric field needs to be neutralised. Your ground types could pile a heap of sand on top of whatever is generating the field. hat should short it out. They should be immune to the effects of the field too. We need to move fast though, Meg doesn't look good up there!"

Rocky considered which of his Pokemon could help here and called out Nala and Vulpix to join Speedy.

"I need you three to dig a hole and throw the dirt over there onto the electric field." Rocky instructed them.

Nala rolled her eyes and started batting at the ground pretending to dig, but doing very little of any actual use. She didn't see the point in using her strength for anything other than battle.

Vulpix gave a bark and started digging sending dirt into the electric field, but not enough to be useful.

Speedy enthusiastically began digging frantically trying to beat the others at this new digging 'game'. he dug a nice deep Rattata sized burrow, but the dirt he excavated was not enough to cause major disruption to the electric field.

"Nice work Speedy and Vulpix!" Rocky said to them, while giving Nala a exasperated look, which she returned by rolling her eyes again.

"This is where Behemoth and Professor Needles would excel." Rocky said in annoyance.

" Let me go...Listen baby....You never had me trapped." Rose froze. What was Surge planning to do? Suddenly a grunt came over and whispered to him.

"It appears that my troops believe we have past the time perimeters of this mission and it no longer benefits us. So Ill tell you what babies. My troops and I will go our way and you can go your way. Ill leave your friend here and her baby pokemon alone." Surge said. Rose let out a slight sigh of relief. It pained her to watch Surge get away again, but they didn't have much choice. They let Surge finish loading the van and drive off with his grunts.

Stacy complimented Rose for being brave. "Thank you but, I really don't think I am." Suddenly Rocky walked up from behind them. Stacy asked if they had a ground type, saying she had a plan. "I don't have any ground types on me." Rose explained. "Will your's and Kyo's be enough?"

"See that wasnt so hard." He turned to watch the boys start to fight but something happened.

Brandon and Paul were rolling around on the ground but both started to resist it. They did not want to fight each other. First Paul slowed down the less aggressive of the the Paul's will in this matter was stronger as the Hypnos control started to break. Shortly after Brandon noticed the boy not wanting to fight him and started to calm down. Brandon anger slowly turned away from this trainer and towards the control. The the two stopped fighting alother. PI. Jumped up. He grabbed Aster's ball.

With a cowerdice grin.
"Looks like I won and Ill be taking this one." He said lifting up Asters ball. He grabbed a box on the table and ran out. As he did some of his papers fell on the floor. Once he and his pokemon were gone into the forest the psychic lock finally let off and Alice, Brandon and Paul now had control.

Further up the road Rockys attempts to attack it on his own had failed. Surge the Electric trainer had been prepared for ground type attacks. When Rockys three pokemon attacked it temporarily disrupted the electric field. The magnets had formed to much of a bound.
Kiara looked up into the tree top.
"I Climb you fix.." She said looking at the team. With the help of her pokemon she was lifted in to the trees and made her way over to towards Meghan.

Meghan was awake but a little out of it.
" Overload them." She called out.

Ty looked up frowning.
" Overload how."

Stacy paused looking at Rocky, Kyo and Rose.

" If we send in all of our pokemon at once we can create a sink hole and pull them all down at once. Then use water types to soak the dirt and the machine should burn out underground. Here's how I think it could work. If we send the pokemon in and have them dig in big circles under the electric field they could weaken the dirt enough to have the ground collapse this would cover all the strobes at once." Stacy suggested

As a water trainer this wasnt Stacy's strong point. However they all seemed to think ground would work.

Kyo, Rocky and Ty called out there digger pokemon and positioned them all over around the machines at once the dug down. At once they send them in making big circles and weakening the ground. Kiara climbed over and helped free Meghan pulling her out of the way of the electric field. Everything seemed good until Rose realized Meghans pokemon were in the middle of that mess. Without thinking she called out her flying typse.

"We need to get her pokemon free of the cave in."

Zubat and Fletchhinder flew out to try and move the huge cages.

Stacy hadnt even thought about the cages. She quickly called out her Gyarados

" We need to get the cages clear.." She said but found that they flyers couldnt get anywhere the cage. The machines had created a system that would release energy if anything moved in the area its sensors covered.

Stacy sighed watching the ground start to weaken.
" We ..we need to do something. "

hypno forced paul to to battle brandon. Paul tried to intentionally to try to punch brandon as little as he could because he did not want to hurt brandon and he knew that alice
had placed her betts on brandon. hypnos hypnosis started to slowly go away and he started to get back control over his body but it was to late the PI had already taken one
of alices pokeballs and left when paul had full control of his body so started he to talk

"what are we going to do now should we look for that PI guy or help the others?"

paul did not know either alice or brandon very well but he had at least talked to alice before so he asked her

((I'm figuring Alice has all her Pokemon except Aster??))

"NO!" Alice screamed as the PI took Aster's Pokeball and ran off. "STOP!" she cried, but she still couldn't move. As the PI got further away, she felt her limbs loosen until finally she was free. She dropped the floor, sobbing. Was the GM universe punishing her for being selfish and not trying to help Meg? Why did she always get into trouble whenever she tried to do something on her own?

"I'm so sorry for leading you here," she said to Paul and Brandon. She was glad they were both okay, even if she had lost her Pokemon. She ran her hands through her hair anxiously. Paprika stood nearby, watching her trainer cautiously. She could sense Alice's turbulent emotions.

"what are we going to do now should we look for that PI guy or help the others?" Paul asked.

"I have no choice," Alice said sadly. "I have to find Aster. But I can't ask you guys to come with me. If you want to go back to the others, I understand," she said, struggling to control her emotions. But it was no good. All the frustration from the last few days came pouring out.

"I was going to leave," she sobbed. "When we got to Lavender Town and cleared our names... I was going to leave the group. I'm not a hero... I just wanted to be a regular trainer... But I'm not strong enough to even do that... I can't even... protect my own Pokemon. I should just... go home," she cried between sobs.

"Ack," Plume said softly. She nuzzled against Alice's side, trying to calm her. Meanwhile Paprika had gathered up the papers dropped by the PI and brought them to Alice. The Pikachu then climbed onto Alice's shoulder. Alice looked down at the papers, eyes blurred with tears and began to read...

Rocky watched the situation unfold. Some strange girl was climbing the tree to release Meg. He had never seen her before, but she seemed to be helpful.

Surge had left some kind of trap that zapped any pokemon who got near it. He called back all of his Pokemon except speedy.

"Speedy, we need to trick that machine and try to drain it's energy! Use double team."

"Rattata!" Said Speedy, and suddenly there were 7 Speedys sitting and looking at Rocky.

"Nice work, Speedy. Do it again."

"Rattata!" "Rattata!" "Rattata!" "Rattata!" "Rattata!" "Rattata!" "Rattata!" said the Speedys.

Now there were 13 speedys, and 36 incorporeal speedys. Like making a copy of a copy, the 2nd-generation mirror images were clearly not perfect.

"OK speedy, send in your images to trick the trap into firing at your fake images. But don't get too close to it, yourself!"
