Nathan followed the others down Route 3 as they made their way towards Mt. Moon. Outside of the cave entrance was a Pokemon Center, where Nathan entered in order to heal everyone up before taking on the mountain.After healing everyone, Nathan sent out his new Nidoran. "Nidoran!" cried the Nidoran in frustrated, it was a bit disappointed from losing the battle. "Hi, there!" said Nathan. "Nidoran?" questioned the Nidoran, wondering what happened. "Well, it looks like you'll be my new partner Nidoran!" responded Nathan. Nidoran was still confused at the idea that it was captured. "You're now one of my Pokemon! Like these guys right here!" responded Nathan, pointing at Leafy and Shich and sending out Matt and Chu. "Pichu!" said Chu, excitedly welcoming its new teammate. "Nidoran," said the Nidoran, a bit anxious. "How about we give you a new name?" asked Nathan, "How about Pointer?" "Nidoran," agreed Pointer. "Well, Pointer, would you like to stay out here like Leafy and Shich, or rest like Matt and Chu?" asked Nathan. Pointer responded by going back to its Pokeball. "Rest it is," said Nathan, sending back Chu and Matt.
