Alice knew all along that Meg would want to find Upgrade, but she was surprised that Meg suggested that the group split rather than trying to convince them to go after Upgrade together. Alice felt it was the right decision. She didn't know whether the rest of the group would agree, but she knew she was going to Lavender.

"I agree with Meg. If it takes two days to reach Lavender Town, then we need to leave as soon as possible," she said, looking at the others.

She then turned to Meg. "Take care out there," she said, holding a hand out to Meg to shake. "We'll see you in Lavender Town," said firmly, wanting Meg to know that she believed in her despite their differences. She felt sad leaving on bad terms, but there was no time to sort anything out now. It would have to wait until they were reunited.
