With Kick-Puncher's help, Rocky moved a pile of rocks and set the up in a wall. That way if the Beedrill returned he would have some sort of cover. Despite his reservations, due to the grossness of bug type, Rocky called out Caterpie and had it use string shot to bind the rocks together.

'Not much of a shelter, but better than nothing' Rocky thought looking at the wall.

"What are you up to? Whatever it is, may I help at all?" Brandon's voice suddenly called out. Rocky jumped a little in surprise, he hadn't expected anyone back so soon. Unfortunately Kick-Puncher took the shock to be a warning of attack. It saw a trainer with his Pokemon out and assumed it was under attack.

"MANKEY!" It jumped up on top of the makeshift wall and jumped around threateningly. "Mankey mankey man .... keeeey" Kick-Puncher wheeled its arms as the wall started to collapse with the Mankey still on top of it.

There was a rumble and the wall was gone, Kick-Puncher was standing on a pile of rocks still threateningthe approaching trainer and his Pokemon.

"Kick-Puncher, it's OK, that is Brandon. He is traveling with us. Do not attack him or his Pokemon... unless we are battling him."

"Hi Brandon", Rocky called out. "Sorry about that, I am teaching Kick-Puncher more self control, but we have a way to go yet. We were building a defensive wall. But it seems that Caterpie's stringshot was not strong enough to hold it together." He looked down to where caterpie was... or had been. All that was there was the large pile of rocks that had fallen from the wall.

"Caterpie is under that pile of rocks. Quick help me move them." He started pulling the rocks away, worried that caterpie would be squashed. His first sight of green the was of some sort of hardened carapace.

Alice and Aster headed to the north, where Alice had spotted the museum on a nearby signboard with contained a map of the city. When she got there, however, she was disappointed to find that it was closed.

"Well, I guess we'll have to try again later," Alice frowned. She knew they probably wouldn't be in Pewter for long. "I hope we get a chance to come back."

"Saur," Aster commiserated.

"I guess we might as well get some more training done. I know some of the others were heading for the forest..."

Alice and Aster began walking south again, back to Viridian Forest. She had always liked the forest as a child, but now something about it seemed a little foreboding. "Maybe it was the Beedrill attack..." she thought. She still couldn't remember exactly what had happened.

Alice entered under the tall trees which marked the beginning of the forest. It was quite cool in the shade. She couldn't see any other trainers about for now.

"Alright guys, let's try this again," she said, releasing her team. Javelin and Domino began play fighting right away. It seemed they had developed a rivalry. Citrus lay calmly on the forest floor, apparently happy to be back in his home. Marionette was her usual hyper self, while Fervor sat quietly alone, not interacting with any of the other Pokemon at all.

"Aster, you practice with Marionette. I want her to work on Shadow Sneak," Alice instructed. "And Citrus, you practice Harden." She then walked over to where her Mankey was sitting solemnly.

"Hi Fervor," Alice said carefully. She knew Mankey could be quick to change emotions and didn't want to anger her.

"Maaaa," the monkey breathed quietly.

"We've had a tough couple days, haven't we?" Alice said, leaning back on the grass. "I know you miss your friends back in Viridian City," she continued.

Fervor looked up at her, still frowning. "Key?"

"I understand," Alice said. "My family is a long way away right now and I miss them too. But this journey had been good for me so far. I've learned so much about different kinds of Pokemon, and made new friends too." She smiled at the Mankey. "Viridian City isn't far away, you could make it back there today, if you wanted. I won't keep you here if you would rather go home."

Fervor looked at her feet and was silent.

I can't promise this journey will be easy." Alice realised that Fervor was probably still a little upset about losing in the battle they had been in right before the Beedrill attack. Maybe the monkey doubted herself just as Alice did. "But we will learn a lot together, and have fun too. We can't win every time, but if we train hard, we'll get stronger." Alice knew she had to be careful here. Losing could be a touchy subject to a Pokemon motivated by fighting like Mankey. "If you'll train with the others, you'll get stronger," she repeated. "And if you ever want to go back to Viridian City, I won't stop you."

Fervor seemed deep in thought, and then she nodded. "Man... key." She looked up at Alice. She seemed to have made up her mind. She got to her feet and began punching the air, her frown replaced with a determined look.

"Alright then Fervor, why don't you practice your Karate Chop on Citrus? It looks like his Harden attack is coming along well."

Fervor moved in lazily, seeing the Metapod as an easy target, but Citrus jumped up, balancing on the bottom of his cocoon and dodged her first attack. Alice was surprised by his swiftness.

Alice watched them all, proud of her little team and all they had accomplished so far.

When Brandon's pokemon saw Rocky's Manky acting threatening they got in a defensive mode as well. Brandon's Skipper jumped in front of him defensively arms spread out, he began growling at the Manky. When Brandon's own Manky saw what was happening he stepped up next to Brandon and gave Rocky's Manky the evil stare and shouted back at the other Manky "MANKEEEYYY, MAANNKYYYY, MANKY, MANNNNKKKKYYY! MAN... MAN...KY MANKY MANNNKY!? MANKY MANKY!"

When Rocky intervened and told his Manky to calm down and not attack Brandon's pokemon went back next to him, undoing their defensive formation, but still watching Rocky's Manky closely.

Then Rocky proceeded in telling Brandon about training manky and building a wall. Then he began franticly trying move the fallen wall rocks off of his caterpie and asking Brandon for help. Brandon started grabing rocks and tossing the aside, Brandon's skipper and Manky joined in the effort flinging rocks off the pile 3 at a time. Brandon's Caterpie came up to make sure Rocky's caterpie was alright and re assure it. "Cattterrrr...pie... caterpie... PIE PIE... caterpie". Then Brandon noticed the pokemon had evolved, he was still moving rocks aside as quickly he could

Max continued while Dennis battled. He took off, running at full speed through and empty field towards the now running dinosaur-like pokemon. It took a minute or so but he caught up to the little guy, tackling it to the ground. Max stopped to take a breath.

"Nice..." he breathed, looking at the happy little pokemon. "Though you should have used those feet of yours to rock the earth to the throw me off." Max paused as Upgrade collected the tryunt.


Upgrade appeared. "Max... Do you need help yet?" the hologram inquired sarcastically.


Max shook his head, taking a deep breath.

With Brandon's help, Rocky pulled the newly evolved Metapod from under the pile of Rocks. It looked wierd with its hard emerald edges. "Metapod!" it said as it was rescued.

"Thanks, Brandon. I think Metapod is OK. It's also good for Kick-Puncher to have another Mankey to play with. Hang on why are you back? What about the search for Rose's Bracelet?"

While he waited for Brandon to answer he looked over and saw that Kick-Puncher was showing off knocking rocks around, trying to impress Brandon's mankey. Kick-Puncher reached into a hole that he had created by moving a boulder and pulled out a strange box.

"Bring that here, please Kick-Puncher." The Mankey brought Rocky the box. Rocky brushed away away dirt from the top of the box and read the inscription. 'Urgent. Please deliver to ...' The name was still covered by dirt. Wondering what was in the box Rocky wiped away the dirt to reveal the name...

I awoke significantly later than the rest, and left the Pokemon Center trying to find them. They weren't outside, so I continued walking attempting to find the rest of the group.

(If anyone wants to find Davis and interact with him you would be doing me a huge favour. Had to disappear for a few days and I have no idea what is going on)

As Alice's Pokemon trained, she looked around the area. They were still near the entrance to the forest, and surrounded by some large trees. One in particular looked like quite a lot of fun to climb. When she was younger, Alice had loved to climb trees. "It's been a while..." she thought, "but I bet the view would be awesome up there."

She walked over to the tree and began to climb, slowly at first. Her boots scuffed against the thick bark. "This tree must be hundreds of years old, I can't imagine what it's seen," she thought.

When she was a few metres up, Javelin swooped past her and landed in a branch above her head, squawking happily. Domino soon joined him, running up the branches, her small feet gripping the bark easily.

"Haha, you want to climb too?" Alice laughed.

"Spearooow!" Javelin cawed and flew out of the tree, and upwards. Domino, always competitive, immediately began climbing again, trying to beat the bird.

Alice looked down. Citrus, Marionette, Aster and Fervor had all stopped now and were watching her. Then Fervor made a move for the tree. The way she swung on the branches was so natural that Alice couldn't help watching her graceful movements. In no time at all, the Mankey had overtaken her and was gaining on Domino, who was struggling with some of the higher branches.

"Be careful!" Alice called, as Marionette swooped past her head to join the others at the top of the tree. She poked her tongue out at Domino on the way up. The Rattata was getting increasingly frustrated as her teammates passed her.

Aster and Citrus were the only ones left on the ground. Alice knew that Aster could probably lift himself up with his vines, but the Ivysaur felt that he was the leader of her small team, and he wouldn't leave one of them behind. Citrus, now a Metapod, was unable to climb. Despite the agility he had shown earlier, it would take him hours to grip the branches using String Shot and haul himself up.

"I'll be back soon," Alice called down, and then followed the rest of her Pokemon. She found a good spot about three quarters up the tree, where a break in the greenery gave her a wonderful view of Pewter City. She could see people moving about, though they looked tiny from up there. Marionette, Domino and Fervor, followed by Javelin, climbed down to where their trainer was sitting.

Alice noticed a familiar figure down on the ground in Pewter City. "Hey! Davis!" she called out. She wondered if he could spot her right up in the tree.

In answer to Rocky's question Brandon replies "Yeah, she found it on a tree branch, just out of the blue" then Brandon's Mankey noticed Rocky's Manky trying to show off and screeching "MANKEY MANKY" ran off to show off some of his own moves. Suddenly Rocky's Manky pulled a box from a hole left from a rock. On command he brought the box to Rocky. From where Brandon stood he could not see what it was. He asked Rocky "What is it Rocky?"

Whatever it was, made Rocky's eyes squint....

Meg watched the pokeball roll to a stop. Her Rattata then began to glow. She watches the Rat type evolve infront of her eyes. Having out battled a pidgeotto was enough for the pokemon to unlock its next stage.

Mega rushed over to the big furry Raticate.
"Whoa look at you. Rose come over and say hi!" She called over.


Meanwhile

Dennis battle and Max tracked down the other half of his team. Chasing Grovyle threw the trees was fun but ended up taking the most time. Be the time he got back to Dennis the battle was just wrapping up.
"Lets head back and meet up with the others. We can see if everyone is ready to test their luck with a gym battle."
