Meg warned Alice that the plan seemed risky and not to underestimate the leaders of the bridge. "I know" Alice said, "That's exactly why we have to try. I don't think any of us is going to be able to beat the champion."

Alice felt uneasy about Meg's reluctance. It seemed likely that some higher power was ready to shoot down their careful plan. But she knew they had to try. She approached Rose next. "Hey," Alice said cheerfully. "You've been doing really well. These guys are so tough! I think next round we should give it our all," she said conspiratorially, "If we're going to go down, lets do it with a bang!" She said, hoping Rose would catch her meaning.
