Alice felt her throat begin to work better as the Paralyse Heal coursed past it. She gulped the medicine. She could feel pins and needles in her hands and feet immediately, but was still unable to move.
The Drowzee who had given her the medicine stood back warily. It seemed afraid of her. Alice almost laughed out of hysteria but her muscles weren't working that well yet.
"Thank you Drowzee," she managed to gasp. She did her best not to feel repulsed by the Pokemon's waving snout. It had helped her and seemed to mean her no harm. "I'm sorry if I scared you," Alice forced herself to say. She still felt that childhood fear, but she had more important things to worry about now. After a while, she seemed to regain control of her body. She flexed a bit before standing up. She was stiff and a little sore all over from being frozen in the same position.
"I need to find my Pokemon," she said to the Drowzee. She was very grateful for its help and felt that she could trust it now. She was sure it couldn't be involved with the bad Drowzee down the road. "Thank you again, Drowzee. Take care."
Alice walked off down the path in the direction she thought she had seen the man go. She was a bit startled when she realised the Drowzee was following her, but kept going warily, looking over her shoulder every so often. She kept a hand on the Pokeballs in her bag, just in case.
Soon she came to a fork in the path. There was no visible clue as to which way the man went. Worse, it was getting dark. Even if she sent out Plume to investigate from the tree tops, the man would be difficult to spot. She also had to make sure she didn't lose track of her friends.
Alice let out a frustrated groan. With every second, the man was getting further away. And she was still being followed by that Drowzee. Wait a second...
Alice turned to the strange looking Pokemon. Could psychic types sense this sort of thing? They were probably the type Alice had the least experience with, preferring to ground herself in science. "Drowzee..." She said slowly, "Can you tell if anyone has been through here recently? With an Arbok and Ivysaur?" She wondered if Drowzee had a good sense of smell as well. Maybe it could detect something she couldn't.
