After a few more seconds, the Togepi pushed its head out of the egg. "Priiii!" it squealed happily.

"Hi there," Alice grinned back.

The little Pokemon let out a small yawn and looked around.

"Chu!" Paprika introduced herself. She reached out and shook the baby Pokemon's hand.

"Priii!" the Togepi trilled again.

"Aww, friends already!" Alice said. "I'm your trainer now, Togepi. We'll take good care of you, won't we, Paprika? But we have to get moving now, so I'm going to let you get some rest, okay?"

Alice clutched the Togepi to her chest and retrieved a Pokeball from her bag. She tapped it lightly against the Pokemon's back.

She placed the Pokeball safely in her bag and then followed the group towards Rifure Village. Hopefully Rocky's car would meet them there.

When they could finally see the town, they were stopped by a man with a badge. Brandon tried to stealthily prepare his Pokemon, but the man's Arcanine used Roar, sending all the team's Pokemon back into their Pokeballs. Alice missed Paprika's weight on her shoulder immediately. She admired the fire dog. It reminded her of one owned by her childhood friend. The beast looked to be in perfect condition. Alice had the urge to pat it, but resisted.

"You are either going to come with me willingly or you well you're going to force me to use my training to take you back," the man said. His Pokemon looked too strong for them to handle.

"W-What is th-this ab-a-about?" Rose spoke up. Alice smiled at her encouragingly. Rose's gentleness might be just what they needed to keep the situation calm.

The man smiled. "I assure you I am not here to harm you in any way but it is within my power to make sure that each and everyone of yous comes with me to answer some questions." Alice was surprised when the man used Rose's name. How did everyone in this region seem to know exactly who they were?! Alice had hoped Meg leaving would confuse their enemies a little. A group of four, not of five, would not match the descriptions going around, surely. But they had been caught time and time again. Maybe Meg had the right idea. They would be much safer if they all split up. Alice thought about what had happened the last time she was alone though, when she had been caught by Marius. She shivered.

Alice had a bad feeling about this situation, but it seemed they had no choice. She kept quiet, mulling over her own thoughts. If they were going to be arrested, she would have to fight, she knew. She hoped her Pokemon were recovered enough from the day before.

She distracted herself by watching the Arcanine. Its mane was beautiful. It whorled around the Pokemon like fire.
