Everything happened so fast. Alice couldn't see much of what was happening from inside the building, but she had run upstairs to find Rose when everything began to shake. There was some kind of explosion. She ducked down for a moment. The static electricity in the air was overpowering. She felt like her whole body was humming. The ground beneath her feet seemed to shake.

Suddenly, a large black dragon swooped into the window. Reese was on its back. Alice grabbed Rose's hand. "Come on!" she yelled over the crackling and booms. Alice was scooped up by the Charizard as it flew out another open window. At first she was afraid, but the sensation of flying was exhilarating. From the sky, she gasped as the great lightning bird Zapdos flew straight into Surge. There was a huge bang of electricity and the building crumpled to the ground! Zapdos and Surge were gone.

"Oh no!" Alice cried. Their Pokemon had been in cages on the main floor! "Our Pokemon were in there!" she screamed to the others. "We have to get them out of there!" She hoped the cages had saved them from most of the impact.
