The gems sounded a bit freaky to Alice. Like some kind of strange witchcraft. Nonetheless, she listened carefully. It seemed these gems would impact their journey whether they liked it or not, and Alice knew knowledge was a weapon.

As they bid the man farewell, Meg wondered aloud about the gems, but Alice's mind was on the fossil deposits on One Island. So far she had seen no sign of Kanto's fossil Pokemon. Could this be her chance to finally see them?

When they reached the edge of Gem City, Alice returned all her Pokemon besides Aster. The Ivysaur had needed a break, so she was carrying the Tirtouga again. The Shiny Bulbasaur stayed close to Aster as usual, but Alice had managed to pat her a few times now. She seemed to be becoming more comfortable around Alice.

Alice was glad to be back in Gem City. It was a beautiful place and was now rather quiet. She looked forward to reaching the Pokemon Center and having a chance to relax after the long day of walking. She stroked the Tirtouga's tough shell. It was a privilege to observe a fossil Pokemon up close. It was amazing to think that Tirtouga had gone extinct millions of years ago and was only now returning to the planet.
