So yesterday I drove to the train station and parked in the section of the grocery store carpark for rail commuters (Everywhere else is 2 hour, however this small section is unlimited). Went and had a crap day at work then came back. As i was driving, I saw what I am certain was a parking ticket (which sucks even more because I am broke and the next $250 of income I have coming in will be paying back debts), however it blew off before I could stop and grab it.

I went back to the carpark today during my travels and found out why I got the fine. If you have food in your mouth, swallow it because you will spit it out when you see why.



The big P by itself means there is no restriction on parking. If it said 1P, it means 1 hour, and so forth. I was parked where the silver commodore is. It took me a few minutes to figure out why I was fined. Look at the bottom of the sign. That tiny freaking arrow. Because I was parked on the right of the sign, and not on the left, I was fined.

Lucky for me, it turns out I know someone who works at the council quite well, and who does software support for their fine system, so I can hopefully get out of it.

(Sorry, I just wanted to whinge to someone about how stupid this is!)

You are having the worst luck! I reckon you should be able to get out of that if you include a photo of the sign and how it was confusing and badly done.

You know damn well they do that on purpose just for that very reason because I would have done the same thing. It wasn't until after I read your post and looked again and was all oooo well damn that sucks. xD

Ridiculous. The carpark i parked in is 2 hours everywhere, except where I parked (next to, now I see), which is all day. If the carpark became packed full of people doing their grocery shopping and me using one of their parks all day threw it into madness, then sure, fine me. But come on. There would have been at least ten free spaces at any time, and 90% of the people would be in and out in half an hour. Tossers.

I'm not sure where you live Comatose, but where I live, the police are what we call "Ticket Happy" this time of the month. Yeah see, since it's technically the second week of the month, cops in my area are in that phase where they're starting to take meeting their quota more seriously. However, since it's the end of the second week, they're transitioning into the "Ticket Madness" phase where they start ticketing for almost no reason. I think you were a victim of this. Just be glad it isn't the last week of the month. Where I live that's the "ticket insanity" week where you have to be as careful as possible because they'll pull laws out of their butts just to ticket you.

Just because we're good doesn't we don't do world domination. United States? Colonial England? Even Nazi Germany to themselves. All thought they were good, all "tried" for world domination. If you're Trekkie there's a scene in DS9 that shows why the Federation is like this. I'll see if I can find it...
