Stacy told them what she knew about the Pokemon. It was worse than Alice had thought. All of their Pokemon were missing? Even the ones in the PC? She couldn't believe it... There was no way... She thought of Plume and Jedi and Aster, of Citrus and Finn and Marionette. Were all of them really gone?

Before she could say anything, Stacy led them outside where some commotion was happening. She warned them to be quiet. They filed into the conference room and watched as Lt Smith flicked through some images. When the photo of Rocky came up, she let out an involuntary gasp. "No..." she whispered.

"The boy in the center of this picture doesnt seem to be afraid which begs the question of either is he a willing participant or being completely controlled?" Lt. Smith said.

"Rocky would never agree to help her!" Alice yelled out, unable to hold her tongue. "He's our friend, you have to help him!"

Everything seemed to happen at once and it was all too much for Kyo. By the time Kyo caught up with reality, she found herself in a room being shown pictures of Rocky. Everything clicked into place at once. Meg, their Pokemon, Rose, Dredd, and now Rocky. Her brain smiled as it ordered this information in an organized fashion. Kyo opened her mouth to say something when Alice yelled out. Kyo reacted immediately, grabbing Alice's shoulder tightly.

"Alice," she said quietly, "think about what you're asking for a second." Kyo sighed, not wanting to be the bearer of bad news. "I've come to notice," Kyo said a little louder, "that the world we've woken up in no longer views people as equals. And while this was an issue before we fell asleep six months ago, it is now more pronounced than ever. In short, these people that now stand before us, they do not care whether the people were once friend or foe. Now, it is all about survival. I doubt they are going to help Rocky because it's too risky. They'd rather put a bullet through his heart than try to extract him."

Giratina and Rose had him pinned and unable to control any part of his body. He couldn't even generate enough phlegm to spit in Giratina's smug face!

'Fine Bring it on!' he thought, 'Let me show you just how stubborn a Smithwick can be!' He prepared himself to withstand whatever psychic barrage Rose could send his way. He would have liked to have been a lot more confident, but he could remember exactly how good and this psychic stuff Rose was. He knew he was in trouble.

Lt. Smith shook his head as Alice spook up. Stacy wanted to back out of the room embarrassed. She had been with the rebels for months longer than she had even known the team of trainers that now stood her speaking. However she considered them friends so she stayed right next to them.

"Young lady..." Smith growled trying to get Alice to stop.

"Whomever you think that trainer is...he wont be that person soon enough. This briefing is to help understand the limits of these two powerful beings."

Then Kyo spoke up unhappy with all of this.

" If you could only grasp what it is we are dealing with you wouldnt be throwing around insults so freely. This is a war, its not some little game of freeze tag. To even attempt to save your friend we would need to send a team into shadow city. We would most likley lose the entire team doing so. You misunderstand whats happening. This whole operation is about life but not just the life of one person the lives of everyone. Besides we only have one experenced person in this whole compound who has ever made it in out of Shadow City a live and right now he is strapped down to a table in the medic bay. X, is the only one capable of making it there..but he could easily try and kill all of you if we unchained him." Smith said

It appeared there could be a small window that they could head to save Rocky and stop all of this. The youngest member of the team finally spoke up. He stood up on a chair and let out a loud whistle.

"Excuse me everyone. I am Ty and I want to first thank you for saving my sister. I then want to thank you for all the others you have saved. Though I am young I can tell that you have joined together for a good reason. My friends and I may not know everything going on but in my short time with them I have seen them save many lives. You have a picture of a trainer named Rocky. This group of trainers has been pushed to the edge and have struggled to keep it together. Rocky and Rose are the heart of this team. Even though you all hate Rose now it seems to me that that super tall guy is the monster responsible for this. I was with Rose right before all of this and her goal was to destroy the Dark Gem. If I had a chance to do it over I would have stopped her from touching it and destoryed it myself but its to late for that. My friends and I only ask to be given the chance to make thigns right. We do not want to take any of your weapons..we just want to be given the chance to stop all of this. The only thing we would need is some time with the traienr Max....who was one of the best trainers in Orre history before this. I think my friend Alice proved that he can be talked with. Can she please see him and at least ask him?"

" I hope that is okay.." he said to her respectfully

Kyo grabbed Alice's arm, and gently explained that the soldiers wouldn't be interested in helping Rocky. Alice knew it was true, but she had to try. She was sure Rocky would not have given up on them. How could they just sit there and let him be turned into a monster? Alice glanced at Stacy and saw that she was clearly a bit annoyed at her outburst. We would have done the same for you, Alice thought bitterly.

Lt Smith spoke up and explained their situation. It sounded as bleak as ever. Had they made any progress in the last six months or were they just hiding here?

Alice was surprised when Ty spoke up next. He explained the whole situation in front of everyone. Alice smiled at him gratefully. He was so brave, speaking in front of all the soldiers. He told them the whole story, that they had known Rose before all this happened.

"My friends and I only ask to be given the chance to make thigns right. We do not want to take any of your weapons..we just want to be given the chance to stop all of this. The only thing we would need is some time with the traienr Max....who was one of the best trainers in Orre history before this. I think my friend Alice proved that he can be talked with. Can she please see him and at least ask him?" Ty finished.

" I hope that is okay.." he said quietly to Alice afterward. Alice nodded.

"I won't speak for the rest of our group, but there is nothing here for me. I was a trainer but my Pokemon... they're gone, turned into monsters... or dead," she said bitterly. "I have no way to get home to Kalos, and my friends are out there, somewhere, being turned into monsters. I'm no good to you here. Just let me go. If I don't come back, then at least I'll be out of your hair," she said, looking at the lieutenant. "I think Max will help me. But if not, then I'll go alone. I knew Rose, maybe I can do something." Alice knew there was little chance of her getting through to Rose, especially if Meg had failed like Stacy said. But she could at least try. What else was there?

"Hey Rose, you know you were always my favorite, right? No need to to go all stabby now!" Rocky said. Rose laughed, not responding. Lord Gerit told her to stop playing.

"You know it wouldn't be any fun if I didn't get to mess with him a little." Rose responded, putting the knife back in her pocket. "Let's go" she said, listening to Gerit's instructions. Once he was done explaining, she closed her eyes. "Understood." She answered, focusing on Rocky. As she focused on him, she could feel how strongly he was resisting her. Of course, it was not nearly enough to stop her, but possibly enough to slow her down. She began to do as Gerit said.

"Alice, you would not being going out alone." Kyo looked up. "How dare you treat us like children! We know exactly what is going on here but in case you haven't noticed we just woke up in a world completely different from the one we went to sleep in six months ago. So excuse me for being a little disoriented with my surroundings. Nevertheless, since you did exactly what I'd said you do, you should now opt to just release us. And if you won't, then I'll keep trying to break out until I breathe my last breath."

Once the process was started there was no turning back. @Brettles Rose pushed and pusher her powers to new levels. She could Rockys soul. He thoughts, he memories, he joys and fears. Rose could feel Rocky's essence. The power almost drove her insane. She carefully pulled out the tiny gem which she had tied around her neck. She gripped the gem as she felt Rockys soul breaking apart. Rocky tried his best to fight this but inside his throughs his world was being torn apart. The darkness appeared in the form of shadow trapinch eating their way through everything. After the thoughts were cleared Rose then replaced his memories with a new memory. In this life Rocky had been Rose's loyal body guard. Rose had saved her from a Rebel torture camp. By the time Rose stopped all Rocky knew was his life by Rose's side.

Lord Garit put his hand on Rose's shoulder as she stumbled back worn out.
"You have done well." He said pointing to Rocky.

" He is now yours."




Meanwhile

Lt. Smith let out a loud whistle.
"Enough..enough..if you want to go you are free to go. If you want X to go with you. Go ask him. If nothing else I know he will at least return even if none of the rest of you make. Now I want you people out of my sight." he commanded. The others in the room looked at them.

Stacy called to them.
"Guys please come with me."


Stacy waited outside for the team.
" I am sorry about that but you need to understand we have been working for months on a way to stop all of this. There is a real concern that Rose will grow strong enough to infect the rest of Kanto."


The team headed down to the room that Max was being held in. They stood behind the big glass window looking into the all white room. In the center was a reinforced bed. Max's arms and legs were strapped down and an IV dripped medicine into his arm. Stacy asked the guard to open the door and give her the keys to the restraints.

" Alice, we will be right here." She said handing over the key.

" If at any point you feel scared leave."

Lt. Smith didn't put up any argument. Stacy led them to Max's room, spoke with the guard for a moment, then handed Alice the keys to Max's restraints. " Alice, we will be right here." She said. " If at any point you feel scared leave."

Alice nodded, taking the key and entering the room. Max was strapped to the bed by his wrists and ankles, and an IV was loaded into his arm.

"Max?" Alice said quietly. She wasn't sure what state he was in. She approached the bed carefully, a little afraid. But she knew Max was her only hope of ever finding her Pokemon. Of ever saving Rose and Rocky. She began to unlock the restraints around his ankles, and the moved to his wrists. She didn't want him to feel trapped when she spoke to him. She thought that would only make him angry.

Once he was freed, she stepped back a little from the bed. "Max," she said more loudly. "Can you hear me? It's Alice. I need your help. I want to fight the dark man. I want to stop him from ever hurting you again. Will you help me?" she approached the bed, reaching her hand toward his.

Finally doing this in Max's perspective





Its all haze to me. I can see glipses of the world outside of this shadow prison. How much control I have over this creature is had to say. Inside this space I can feel only hate and pain. Its hate and pain. It feels like a lifetime passes and then all of sudden I am again. The god known has Giratina has claimed me as some sort of trophy. Why me, I think it has taken this whole time to figure out. I am suppose to be dead. Because I am the world around me is wrong.

I pause as the darkness breaks and I can feel myself or my soul to be more exact. I can see Rose...sweet Rose. And then I see it. The devil worm that has been slithering through my nightmares. I am not aware enough to control me. As I drift away from this creature I see me....and I am dead. My eye is gone? Rose? I think to myself as a drift back into it.

I am up instantly on my feet as if I never missed a beat. With only my one eye I need to protect Rose. I need to get Giratina away from her. Then I feel it. The cold dead mineral sliding up my spin.


" You cant have her." I say falling over.

As I look out over the mess I can sense all the trainers I was suppose to protect are gone..They are gone. There bodies buried in the rubble..Except one. One survived.

I look at Meghan fighitng to get through the energy field around Garatina. When she starts to take off I reach for her not to leave but its to late. I think to myself did I do all of this or did Rose...or are we all just puppets to Garatina games.

As I lay there cut up unable to move it is clear that Giratina has won. This creature is no more Rose than I was Dredd.
"Fight Rose.." I cough out

Then she turns the power that once belong my darkside on me. Once agian Giratina gets what he wants. Only now I am in my human form and I am being inslaved again...my broke body unable to fight this.

"yes lordess." I say as I fall into line. I follow whatever she says but this isnt like before. My mind and soul are stronger now. I can fight her grasp on me. For months I do everything she says. Each horrable act I do for her takes a little bit of whats left of my humanity.

Months pass and all of sudden I find the strength to stop. I am waiting amoung the shadows for a the rebels to sneak in through a factory when I sense her. The shadows move in quick taking out most of the team but this group has been trained well they stick together and fight back. I move into position and drop down behind her. I could reach out and crush her throat but I stop. Meghan turns to me and for the first time since I was set free from Lord Garits prison I am me.

I feel shame, shame like i have never known before. The shadow influence is stronger than I am and forces my hand. I pick her up off the ground by her neck like i had so many times. She struggles and spits me in the face.
"You are not Max... You're just another zombie who pals in comparsion so do what you must." She screams in defiance. I am me..I think. I pause dropping her down and backing off. I stop myself from making another move and for a moment I am free. Then the rebels come in and beat me the hell out of me.

I make a choice to let them take me but breaking free of Rose's grasp is not easy. At first I am locked away because they dont trust me. I dont care about all of this. In my free time out of my cell I train alone. Gradually working my way up to field mission with Meghans team. She of course fights this. She doesnt trust me. She looks at me with fear and heartache. I had failed her. but in my failure she had grown into something I could see a glipse of. She was so strong now, her battling tactics her, her will power this trainer and been molded in stuggling to stay alive. Yet.. she still felt enough to have love for me. She still had love for Rose. How?

In first month or so I cant help the rage. The shadows speak to me. When I cry out at night shadow pokemon attack the base.. I can no longer look at myself as person. The leader of this goon squat a man who calls himself Lt. Smith gives me handler. A sweet girl named Stacy who is friends with Meghan. Smith wants me to be a weapon. He focuses all of his energy on reminding me over and over and over that Rose is to blame. After away of being shown the images and hearing the cries of woman and childern dying. I buy into it. I am sold Rose must die. Rose must die.

I follow orders again. Is this me now or is this just whats left? Had my own will power been broken so badly. With each mission I grow stronger and stronger eventually I put myself in a cell each night and chain myself up. I am monster, I do not deserve to be among people. I destroy any reflection I see of myself. I begin to look at me with the same disgust and mis trust Meghan does. We are finally put on a mission. Lt. Smith has given me a special job. The task will put us in range of One Town and Rose.

I go along with Meghans team. She doesnt want me there but I have been the only person to make it back and forth in the last couple of missions. Meghans team took heavy losses so she has been training. Which is given me the chance to step up and do solo missions. In my solo mission I find the best vantage point to Rose and Lord Garit. I stash the gun I will use. When the day final comes it all seems to go as planned. Thanks to the brainwashing of hate for so many months I am primed to go. I want nothing more than to finally get these shadows out of my head. I use a horde of shadows attacking as my opportunity. I ditch the group and move up the third floor where the gun is ready to go.

I get into position and I see her. I line up the shot but I hesitate. "Rose.." I said under my breath. I feel something deep down inside. Rose is like me. Some place that I had forgotten about buried in the hate. Rose is me. I slightly move the gun towards Lord Garit when I am discovered. Meghan rushes over towards me. I choose not to stop her and instead take the hit from her gun which cause my finger to slips. In the distance the bullet finds a pokemon, a poor pokemon. With in a milsecond we can all feel the pain from Rose. We all know her partner is dead and the shadow pokemon are all over the building. Meghan attacks me hitting me with her gun. She is calling me names and hitting me. She doesnt stop as the rest of the team is getting overtaken. The two of us roll around in a struggle for the gun. I let this mostly happen. When I finally stop her and pin her down. I can see the tears in her eyes. She tells me that life matters. That all life has to matter. She reminds me that Rose would do anything for me. I get back. I try to explain what is happening to me but she cant hear it over her disappointment in me. When the shadow pokemon reach us I do something right for once. I clear through all of them using a all my strength. I help get us free and back to the base. Meghan doesnt stay long. She doesnt say goodbye before she leaves. She just stands outside my cell when she thinks im asleep and vanishes. I dont leave my cell much after than.

I am fall into a haze again until right now. I feel a soft hand reach out and slowly touch mine. I snap to sitting up in a room. "Alice." i say under my breath feeling the shame of what has all just come flooding back to me. I dont say anything but look up at her and I slowly turn my hand to hold hers. I look at her and my eye waters.

"Yes..I can"

I pause reaching over to whip a tear from her eye.
" I am here now in whatever wretched form I exist in. I will do whatever you need me to do to make things right."
