Max grabbed Alice's hand. "Yes..I can" he said, looking at her. Relief flooded over her, bringing her to tears. He was Max again, at least for now. She glanced over at the glass window where the others were, wanting to make sure they knew everything was okay.

" I am here now in whatever wretched form I exist in. I will do whatever you need me to do to make things right." Max said.

Alice squeezed his hand. "I knew you were in there, Max," she said, smiling through her tears. She looked at him, distracted for a moment. Then she remembered why she was there. "Rose has Rocky," she said sadly. "I want to help him, help them both. Giratina... he's the key to everything, right? I want to hurt him for hurting you," she said, thinking of the dark and dangerous Pokemon that she had met in Max's memories. "For hurting Rose. We have to stop him for good or this will never end."

Rocky tried his best to fight off Rose's mental intrusion but in the end she got inside his head she tried to turn him against his friends, but he resisted with all his might ...

Suddenly like a flash of light he realised the truth. His other friends were the true danger, Rose was the one he needed to protect. He stood up and looked around, seeing Rose standing next to Gerit.

Gerit put his hand on Rose's shoulder and Rocky let out a low growl. He didn't like anyone getting to close to Rose.

He realised that he was unarmed and walked over to one of the soldiers.

"Your gun! Give it to me! Now!" Rocky demanded.

The soldier tried to refuse, so Rocky punched the soldier in the head. He then reach down and grabbed the gun, and kicked the soldier again, for good measure. Keeping the gun in his hands he walked back to stand behind Rose, his shadow tinged eyes staring intently at everyone in the vicinity, assessing any danger to Rose.

Rose hadn't expected to struggle so hard trying to pull out Rocky's soul. It took all her strength to break through Rocky's defenses. She shook as she used all her willpower to continue, slowly consuming everything that Rocky was. Once she was done, she began creating completely new memories. She began to instill in him a hatred towards the rebels. Rocky would believe that he had been rescued by her, and that he had always been her bodyguard. And then it was over. Rose and Rocky both stumbled back at the same time. She smiled with satisfaction.

"You have done well." Lord Gerit said to her.

"Did you expect any less?" Rose questioned. Her smile widened as she saw Rocky go to take one of the guard's guns. The guards around her began to raise their guns towards him with the intention to shoot. "Don't interfere!" She ordered, holding her arm up. They began to lower their weapons, but when the guard Rocky approached refused to back down, Rocky took it by force. She was confident in her work, but kept her guard up just in case. If Rocky showed even the slightest intent to do her harm, she was ready to freeze him in place again.

"Rocky." She said. "Do you remember when the rebels captured and tortured you for information?" She questioned, testing him.

Alice had looked at me just like Meghan when she first saw me but in this moment. I see a glimmer of hope. This moment doesnt last as she focuses on why she needs my help.

"Rose has Rocky," she said sadly. "I want to help him, help them both. Giratina... he's the key to everything, right? I want to hurt him for hurting you," she said, thinking of the dark and dangerous Pokemon that she had met in Max's memories. "For hurting Rose. We have to stop him for good or this will never end."

I pause for a moment and try to think back to Giratina's weaknesses if any at all.

" Giratina can not be killed." I in disgust.

" In this form with a ton of power we might be able to beat him...but Meghan seemed to think all of this was because of something called an inquisitor gem. She didnt say much to me but I heard her talking about it multiple times. If she was right destorying that gem could free Rose." I say trying to help out in whatever way I can.

I get up and look towards the window. There is something I must do right now. I say to myself letting go of Alice's hand and walking to the door. I open in and look out at the group. I scan the trainers stopping when I see her. Max thinks

Max open the doors and walks over to Kyo. @Alphys

He stopped a foot away as the other trainers backed away.

" I am sorry.." He said looking at the trainer he never met.

" I should not have put my hands on you but I am not myself these days." Max said to Kyo

He then looked at the other trainers. Seeing Brandon again he nodded. He didnt recognize Paul or Ty. He stopped nodding at Stacy.

" Alice has asked for help. I understand if you all do not trust me enough to come with you..but I can assure you my only goal is help you complete yours. I can not promise I will always be in control but I can promise that with every breath I take keeping all of you safe will be my priority." Max said unsure of himself

He paused looking at Alice for some reassurance. Max was very bad at this and he felt at a loss when speaking to people in this manor.

" Giratina can not be killed." Max said. Max mentioned the inquisitor gem and how destroying it could save Rose.

Alice had no idea where the gem was. Max got up and let go of her hand. He walked out to the others. Alice remained in the room, thinking.

What happened when Rose absorbed its power? Did the gem still exist as a stone somewhere? Rose had used it to slash Max's face so it must still have a physical form... but who had it? Surely Giratina would protect it if it was the key to Rose's power.

After a moment, Alice headed out of the room. Max was speaking to the others, offering his help. Alice handed the keys back to Stacy.

"I can not promise I will always be in control but I can promise that with every breath I take keeping all of you safe will be my priority." he said. He glanced at Alice, and she smiled at him.

"Thank you, Max. I knew you'd help us," she said happily. She wanted to tell him that she believed in him... That she was so glad to see him acting normally that she wanted to hug him... but she felt too shy in front of everyone, so she just gave his hand a quick squeeze before letting go again. "You've met Kyo and Stacy... and these guys are Paul and Ty. They were travelling with us when all this went down and were helping us to destroy the gems," she said, introducing the two boys to Max.

"Max thinks we might be able to save Rose by destroying the inquisitor gem," Alice said to the others. "It might be difficult, but we've been through a lot together. Rose and Rocky need us now. Anyone who knows them knows that they would do the same for us," she said without hesitation. "Besides, it'll be easier than trying to fight Giratina without any Pokemon," she paused, thinking of her poor Pokemon again. "Of course, if any of you would rather not come, there's no shame in staying here," she finished, not wanting to pressure anyone into anything. This would most likely be worse than any battle they had faced so far. Worse than trying to fight Dredd. But for some reason Alice didn't feel afraid. With Max by her side, Alice felt confident and strong. She wanted to show him how far she had come. That his sacrifice to save them after Mt Moon was worth it.

Kyo frowned at Max's apology and shook her head. "Why are you apologizing?" she said, "I knew fully well what risk I was running going into that cell of yours. I was expecting to be attacked the whole time, you're just a lot stronger than I anticipated. So don't apologize for something I knew was going to happen. Alice already apologized for you anyway, but it's not like I care. I know you've been through more than I could ever know and that is excuse enough for you to attempt to strangle me. Though I'd appreciate it if you refrained from doing so again." That was about as close as Kyo was going to get to saying she had accepted and appreciated his apology.

Kyo looked over at Alice at crossed her arms. She nodded at the plan and said, "I'm in, but just know I'll be keeping an eye out for Meghan the entire time. And when I find her I will be dragging her around the collar of her shirt to make sure we don't lose her again, okay?"

"Rocky." Rose said. "Do you remember when the rebels captured and tortured you for information?"

Rocky looked into his memory and saw pain and torment, obviously from when the rebels had captured him, he had blocked it out, but with Rose's prompting he recalled the day.

Alice, Kyo, Meg and Ty had all been false friends. They had laughed in glee as they held him down and poked him with red hot implements of pain and torture. Rose had saved him from their torment, and he was eternally grateful for her protection, he would protect her for her rescue from those evil false friends.

"I remember!" he said with a growl in his voice, "Is it time for payback? I want to take at one of them alive and show them my 'appreciation' for how they treated me!"

Once the team agreed to letting Max help it was time to go. However before leaving the compound the team was stopped by Lt. Smith.

" X, I do not like that you are going with this kids. However, I know that you will do whatever it takes to end this war." He said patting Max on the shoulder.

" I had the troops prepare your armor. Just heads up though. We will be moving out at o600 promptly. If you take to long you may miss the whole battle and that little while and her demon god will be dead." Smith said showing them to the exit.

The team walked past the crowd of disapproving soldiers. After walking down the long hall they reached the huge door leading out. Behind them a crowd watched them. Some made comments others wished them luck. As the doors opened they could see nothing but the pitch black of the dead night. The compounds lights were the only light they had. Lying on the ground outside was a suit of dark armor. Max looked at the military gear and couldnt help but feel like he was only taking a step backwrards. He picked up the black mask which once again seal away who he was. He paused looking at Alice for some reason. Then looked back at the mask. Even if this gear would help him he choose not to. He dropped the mask into the dirt and walked over to the bag. As he unzipped he pulled out a hand full of pokeballs. He lifted the black pokeball up.

" I need all of your attention." Max said

"Now we are about to head into Shadow City but as it stands all of you will be killed. In this shadow world the only way to live outside the walls of that base is with pokemon. Each of you are going to have to learn how to control a shadow pokemon before we can leave. This normally takes weeks but we have hours." Max said

(This is an unlock event. If you are owed a Shadow POkemon you can unlock it. If you are owed more than one you can claim them.)

Max put the pokeballs back in the bag and held it open for the others to grab from.
"These shadow pokemon are trained but they will not like you. They need to see you and you need to assert your authority over them. this not an option. These pokemon wont listen to you without respecitng or fearing you. Remember these pokemon have been tainted with shadow energy so there thought process is the same as a pure pokemon."

Lt. Smith spoke to Max before they left. He mentioned a big battle where he intended to destroy Rose and Giratina. Alice gritted her teeth. She didn't know what they could possibly do against Giratina. Alice remained quiet as they passed the soldiers.

As they walked out into the night, Max leaned over some dark armor. Alice wondered what it did. He picked up a mask, but then looked at her and put it down again. Instead, he unzipped a bag and removed a bunch of black Pokeballs.

"Each of you are going to have to learn how to control a shadow pokemon before we can leave." Max explained. ""These shadow pokemon are trained but they will not like you. They need to see you and you need to assert your authority over them. this not an option. These pokemon wont listen to you without respecitng or fearing you"

Max held out the bag of Pokeballs. Alice's last experience with Shadow Pokemon had been seriously frightening. She had battled Max's own Pokemon, turned into shadow monsters. She glanced at Max. Did he remember that? Alice reached into the bag and scooped up two Pokeballs. They were startlingly cold.

Alice knew this would be a test of her abilities to understand and bond with Pokemon. The Shadow Pokemon would not be interested in being friends. She would need to show off her own strength to earn their respect and submission. She had dealt with difficult Pokemon before, but nothing like this...

Alice retreated to a far corner of the yard. She held up one of the Pokeballs. "Come out!" she commanded, releasing the Pokemon inside. A dog appeared, a Houndour. It barked rabidly, head shifting left and right as it sought its target. There was something very wrong with it. Its eyes were red and its skin a mottled purple instead of black. It looked sick, and Alice felt sorry for it. She wondered what was going on in its mind. Was it afraid? Or just numb? For its sake, she hoped it was the latter. The Houndour growled at her, crouching as if to jump at her. Its soulless eyes looked right through her, as if she wasn't even there, but Alice could tell it was watching, waiting for her to make a move.

Alice stood tall, careful to keep her clenched fists from shaking. One hand gripped the black Pokeball tightly, ready to return the Houndour if it tried to attack her. She knew she must show no fear, though. She took a deep breath and kept her eyes locked on the beast's. She stepped forward, head held high. The Houndour looked momentarily confused but didn't back down. She took another step, taking care to keep her breathing even. If she wanted to help Rose and Rocky, she needed to be brave enough to face Giratina. What was this pup compared to the god of death? Another step.

Too close. The dog lunged, snapping at her. Alice twisted away just in time. The Houndour leapt past her, skidding on the gravel. Somehow, she kept her cool. She had faced down angry Beedrill, calmed a mad Mankey. This was different, but it was still the same. The Houndour was still a Pokemon, no matter what.

"Enough!" she barked, her voice high but controlled, one hand extended toward the beast. She dodged the snap of its jaws in order to push it down onto the ground. The dog was forced onto its side. Alice kept one hand on the scruff of its neck, where its mother would have carried it as a pup. Alice wondered what had happened to her. The Houndour writhed and snapped, toxic-looking, green saliva flying everywhere, but Alice held it down, using all her weight to restrain it. She grunted with the effort of holding the struggling beast. All the while she spoke softly to it, and when that did nothing, she hummed. A lullaby she had learned from her mother, a calming song. After what seemed like an eternity, Alice felt the beast's tense muscles relax under her fingers. Exhausted from its struggling, its tongue lolled out of its mouth, and it was finally still. For a moment it almost looked like a normal Houndour... except for those terrible red eyes which never left her face.

Slowly, calmly, Alice released the dog and got to her feet. The Houndour followed her lead, now sitting calmly on the ground, but still watching her warily. Its expression seemed to have softened somehow. Alice wondered if she had somehow gotten through to it or if the shadow taint just ebbed and flowed of its own accord. She would need to keep up her guard, either way.

"Houndour, I can't understand the pain you're feeling, but I promise if we get through this, I'll do my best to help you," Alice said solemnly. The Houndour approached her, pacing in a circle around her legs, but it didn't attack. Alice knew that was the best she would get for now.

Thankfully the Honedge Alice found in her other Pokeball was easier to subdue. The strange sword Pokemon seemed to survey Alice with its half-open red eye, as if assessing her somehow. Alice kept a tight grip on the black Pokeball. After a few minutes, the Pokemon let out a sad and haunting cry. Alice felt its melancholy wash over her and wondered what its story was. Even the Houndour's ears seemed to prick up at the sound.

Alice looked at the two shadow Pokemon, her unlikely allies. She knew she had to trust them if she had any hope of helping Rose and Rocky. "Fighting together is our only hope now," she said out loud.

"Im alright!" A voice called out as a hand pushed through a pile of rubble.

As a trainer appeared from the rubble he had a smile on his face.
" That was pretty intense." The eighteen year old joked whipping off the dirt tactical gear.

" I hope you got all of this on tape." He laughed looking at his shocked friends that came rushing over towards him.

" Dude that was completely stupid!" Walter said punching the boy in the arm.

"Shut up for a moment. I need to address my fans." He said arrogantly patting the boy on the top of the head.

" Once again boys and girls at home. Your favorite dynamic daredevil Logon here has just survived a hyperbeam explosion that destroyed a whole building. Now children do not try this at home. Only a trainer like myself and my amazing partner could pull off a move that hot." Logan said calling over the Scizor. Who flew right over to the trainer picking him up.


Logan turned off the camera.
" I NEEED to figure out how to get you to Mega Evolve. Please tell me someone knows where we can find the Scizorite." Logan said walking over the friends working on uploading the video.

" Damn son..." The boy behind the computer said

" They said there were Scizorites in the Sevii Islands way out in Kanto..."

Logan sighed

" Really??? but thats like across the globe." He sighed

" He paused for a moment. Looks like its time to sell the car." He laughed overlly excited

" Ma's not going to like it but when she finds out her son is the best battler and stunt man ever she is going to lose her ****!" He laughed


3 months ago the eastern half of One City.

A hand slowly pushs through a pile of rubble.
"We found one!" The medic says rushing over.

"Son are you alright?" The medic said wave the flashlight over his eyes.

" Never been better lady..just tell me the you got that on tape." he said jokingly before passing out.

2 weeks later
Meghan and Lt Smith stand outside of the trainers 2nd hospital room.
" He is unstable, reckless and he may be suicidal. The boy has no disipline and he seems to feel like this is all a joke."

Meghan looked at the trainer. Who was currently trying to squeeze a whole cup of Jello through a straw.

" Logan is ..Uhhh...different. But he has adapted to this battling style and this hell relatively fast. If just some patients he is going to make a skilled fighter. Honestly his lack of fear is just a form of excitement. Dont send him back with the civilians, I really could use a skilled battler like him."



2 months ago - the week before Meghan leaves the camp.

"Raid 15 is a bust. The red shards hidden here were found." Meghan said as the soldiers slowly come out of the near by school.

When the sound of hissing and growling starts to move up. Flares from the look outs shoot overhead. Meghan rushs back to the convoy sending out her own shadows to halt the attack. As her unit rushes back to the convoy she notices one of them is missing. It doesnt take her long to figure out who it is. She rushes back inside with her pokemon and notices that the building is being swarmed.

Meghan is lifted off the ground by Logan who is sitting on the metal pillars that have been exposed by the building falling apart.
" Shhhh commander feisty." Logan says as the shadow pokemon come all around.

He takes out a little wind up munchlax and tosses across the room as it starts to dance the shadow pokemon move their attention in that direction. The two jump down and Meghan grabs Logan by the collar.
" Logan, you are dead." then she starts to run.

Right before getting to the van however a shadow Ursaring jumps out in front of them. Before it has a chance to hit Meghan Logan jumps in front taking the slash which lucky only does minal damage to his armor. Logan hits the ground hard twisting his ankle.

Max jumps pass the two lifting the bear off the ground focusing hard enough he launches the pokemon into the air.
"Move." he growled. His mask covering his expression.

Meghan helped up Logan and rushed him back to the van.


The day Meghan left-
Logan slowly paced around with his bandaged ankle waiting for his team to return. He poked his head out of the room impatiently waiting for the others to return. When only Meghan and Max returned he knew it had all gone wrong. Meghan shut down as he tried to find out what happened. The next morning she was gone. With not even a goodbye. Logan made his way down the cells to find the angry Max shut off.
"Where did she go? X...where?" Logan demanded answers.

"She's gone kid." was all Max offered up.

Despite being hurt Logan needed to find her so he took off on his own hobbling out of the base and down the road. After about a day of wondering. Logan began to feel like he might never find her. When it turned out Meghan had known he was there but wasnt going to stop she let him come with. Reminding him not to slow her down. Meghan had a tendency to wonder off alone and meet new people.

1am the morning before the team woke up.

Logan sat quietly leaning against a window overlooking Main St. The 6 foot tall, eighteen year old soldier played with the tooth pick in his mouth taking moments to look out the window. His hand tapped to the rhythm of one of his favorite songs. After tapping he finally broke the silence. He looked over at his partner and the trainer he followed right out the rebel base.

Logan flashed a smile at the girl but didnt seem to get her to break her focus on what she was doing.

"Do you remember that old tootsie roll commercial? You know the one with the kids and the train and for some reason the whale. I can help but look out the window and imagine what this city would like like as a tootsie roll.." He said trying to get her to smile

When she didnt respond he sighed.
" Commander why are you always so serious? You got maybe the best battler in the whole resistance right here with you. We could easily storm One Tower and take on the princess and Garit. "
