Rose watched with both amusement and annoyance as Rocky fought off all the guards. Amused that he was still putting up a fight, but annoyed at how useless the guards had been. "You all disappoint me." Rose called out to the guards as they laid all either knocked out or in too bad shape to fight. The fifth guard had run out, angering Rose even further. There was no time to worry about that for now though. She heard Lord Gerit whisper into her ear.

" Rose, this is the perfect time to display your powers. Everyone in the prison is watching." He explained. Rose smiled at the idea.

"Very well." She responded to him before walking back up to Rocky. "You've left me no other choice." She told him. Quickly, she lifted her arm up towards him. Within a second, Rocky felt his muscles lock up, almost completely preventing him from moving. "I would tell you to not bother resisting, but given your actions so far, I don't think it would make a difference." Rose explained with a sinister smile. "No matter though. It's okay if you drag this out. This would be no fun if you didn't put up a fight." Rocky was slowly forced to walk forward against his will. Fighting it would only delay the inevitable.

The Rose-creature beckoned Rocky forward. He refused t go, but his body had other plans. It locked up under the psychic assault on his senses. Rocky railed against the control and burst forward with his last strength to try to punch this shadow-witch in the head.

His muscles however refused to cooperate. The Rose-creature took Rocky's power and adjusted his powerful swing. Rocky blinked in surprise as his fist rebelled against his command and came swinging towards his own head. The collision of his fist into his face knocked Rocky off his feet. He had the chance for one last snarl of defiance before succumbing the self inflicted blow to the head.

" Stratus" Lt Smith said letting out a low growl.

One of the of soldiers walking by stopped.
"Sir...do they mean Blue..."

He paused looking at Lt. Smith.

Smith looked at the group.
" how do you know that Stratus ? Wait Stratus came in with a girl. Go find out where she is." He commanded the young private. Who nodded and walked off.

Before he got a response however Alice spoke up.
"W-who is the hero? What's his name?"

When Alice started asked questions about the hero it only made things seem suspicious. This had been strike two against these trainers.

"Why are you asking about "Him"? I am getting the feeling that all of you are more connected to this than you are letting on. Maybe it would be best if I didnt just send you the the civilian bunkers.." Lt Smith said taking the team to his office.

" Now then I expect one thing. If you are completely open with me right here and now then I can answer your questions..but if you hold back on something that can help this operation. Ill see the lot of you rot away in the cells downstairs or send you out in the open to fend for yourselves."


Meanwhile

Rose used her powers beautifully to control Rocky. She exerted her will over his and forced the much bigger trainer to move himself into the her security transport. Once inside Rocky sat next to Rose unable to psychically move in a way that wasnt like the all black military escort that now followed them around. Lord Garit sat in the front seat with a grin on his face all the way back to One City. As the convoy drove into the city Rocky could do more than turn his head and look at what had happened to the city. Buildings had been destroyed. Wild Shadow Pokemon poked there head out of the tops of the buildings, windows and street corners. A dark purple cloud hung over head and no people could be seen within sight.

In the center of the One City (Shadow City) Rose's Dark Tower stood. As the convoy rolled up to the tower Rocky got out still being controlled. He had limited control. He could speak and he could walk around a little however he found aggressive thoughts or movements were not in his control. Lord Garit walked up to the trainer. Rocky had been use to being taller than the average person but Lord Garit dwarfed Rocky in size.

" I have a great opportunity for you Mr. Smithwick. You are going to be the Rose's first attempt at testing her limits. Now she is not use to this kind of power so I request as her friend you make this easier on all of us and not resist." Garit walked to far ahead of Rose for her to hear this.

"How do I know her? Well…" Kyo thought it over then said, "Well, it started a while back. I met Meghan when we were held captive in a Rocket hideout. We've traveled together ever since. Not sure about the others though. She tends to wander off a lot from what I understand though, so you can understand why I'd be worried about her." Kyo paused at the threat and narrowed her eyes. "Say what you will but we are still entitled to what we can and will say. We may be at your mercy for now, but I wouldn't put it past fate to somehow work out no matter what you do to us."

"Why are you asking about "Him"?" Lt Smith asked.

Alice was starting to get annoyed. "You won't tell us anything!" she said. "I can't even remember the lsat 6 months of my life! I didn't realise asking questions was a crime," she said testily. No one wanted to answer their questions and now they were getting suspicious of the group?! The group were the ones who should be suspicious about this military operation that somehow managed to continue under Rose's nose! Alice had seen Rose's powers firsthand. She could enter people's minds. She must know exactly where they were already! Alice didn't know how much they should share with the soldiers. But she had lost her Pokemon and six months of her life, some of her friends were missing, Rocky was in the grasp of Rose who had apparently gone nuts and they were trapped on an island full of monsters. Alice didn't feel like there was much left to lose.

"We were on the SS Anne which sunk off the coast of Gem Island," she explained. "The boat was attacked by a shadow monster because of some weird gem on board. When we got to One Island, we were told there was another gem on show and that the same shadow monster would probably go after that too. We went to try and fight the monster before he could get to the gem. And that's the last thing I remember before waking up in that jail this morning," she said sadly. She felt defeated already.

"The shadow monster went by the name of Dredd," she continued. "When you mentioned a hero who used to serve the.... shadow lordess," Alice said, careful not to use Rose's name, "I thought maybe it was him. Maybe he would know what happened to us... why we can't remember... and where our Pokemon are..." she said sadly.

Lt Smith. It was almost as if the world before the moment that Rose became the Shadow Lord didnt exist. The man looked at the kids pleading for some help.
" You think because you lived through the S.S Anne that you have any clue as to whats been going on. The S.S. Anne feels like a life time ago young ladies." He said pausing.

"The last six months have been a form of hell you couldnt fully comprehend." He growled

He looked at Kyo.

"Dont bother looking for Blue here..She is gone and good riddance to bad rubbish. Blue was insubordinate and if I see her again on these premises she'll end up imprisoned until the end of this companion. Thats the last I will say about her." He sat down at his desk flipping up some of the files on his desk.


" I dont have time to deal with any of this but I will grant you permission to see X. He is locked up securely at all times so it shouldnt be a problem. Though I wouldnt expect much out of him. He hasnt said a single word since we found him." Lt said


Letting out a whistle for the soldier outside his door to come in.

"Take them to see X. They think there is a chance that he may be connected to how they ended up in the prison camp." He said mostly trying to get them out of his hair.

The soldier nodded waving them to come with them. As they left his office Ty stood in the doorway.
" If my sister is here I am going to stick here until you can find out." Ty said folding his arms.

" You can go without me. Im staying right here until I find out about Stacy." Ty said


The soldier didnt wait long for the team before heading through the north end of the building and into the basement. There the team found armed guards standing at the entrance. They were lead down the walk way past prison cells most of which were empty. The soldier pointed them to the last cell out of sight on the left. Alice lead the way having to see if it was her fallen friend. As she approached the cell she could see her former friend sitting in the back of the cell. A scar ran down the right side of his face and his hair had white streaks in it. No longer the shadow of Dredd, Max sat silently with his eyes focused on the ground.

"Yeah, but I have a slight problem with that opportunity, Mr Spooky, or fo you prefer to called Spook?" Rocky figured that since he was in trouble anyway he may as well try to annoy this horrible man into doing something stupid. "You see, 'Spook', I don't believe you have my best interests at heart! In fact I think that you are actually quite a bad guy."

"So here is my counter offer. You release me from these bindings and I punch you in the head and run away! How about that?"Rocky sneered at the evil 'thing' walking beside him. "And of course if you call that thing leading us 'Rose' again, I just going to have to come back after I escape and find some way to make you suffer! The real Rose wouldn't put up with you, the real Rose would kick your butt from sunrise to sunset and leave you begging for dawn to never come!"

Alice held her breath as they were led into the basement and past prison cells. She glanced into every one, but most of them were empty. Her heart beat fast in her chest. She couldn't help feeling hopeful even though she knew it was a long shot.

The soldier leading them finally pointed to a cell. It was the last one. As she got closer, she saw a figure sitting at the back of the cell. "It can't be..." she whispered in disbelief. He had a nasty scar and some of his hair had turned white. But it was him... She couldn't believe it. After all this time... after Rose had told them he was lost forever... Tears welled in Alice's eyes, but she blinked them away hastily.

She stood just outside the cell. A million questions ran through her mind. Would Max even remember her and Brandon after everything he'd been through? Was he still the same person? Would he be angry that they let Rose turn into a monster? Max sat quietly, staring at the ground. "Max," Alice said softly, though her voice echoed in the corridor. She knelt down on the cold ground. "Is that really you? Do you... do you remember me?"

Kyo recoiled at the man's words about Meghan. Tears rose in her eyes for a second and a thousands insults rose to the tip of her tongue, ready to be fired like bullets from a minigun. But she had been dismissed, and Kyo knew that meant the man would no longer listen to the words she spoke. So Kyo hardened her expression, turned back to the others, and gave nothing more than a spiteful, "Well thank you for your consideration." Kyo followed the group to the cell of the one known as Dredd. Chills raced up her spine at the mere thought of the man, but she was well aware of the importance of him based on past conversation about Dredd. However, what Kyo knew was very little. Nevertheless, Alice's reaction was of no surprise to Kyo.

Kyo stared at what was nothing more than a shell of a man in the cell. He seemed familiar in an odd sense, and it took Kyo quite a while to realize why. Her first vision, the moment she met Rose. There had been someone there who had looked oddly familiar to this man. So this was Max.

Max sat against the far bench as the team approached.

"Max," Alice said softly, though her voice echoed in the corridor. "Is that really you? Do you... do you remember me?"

At first there was no reaction,Max's gaze was fixed on the ground. After a minute or two his foot slowly started to slide around in front of him as he if were playing with his feet in sand. He slowly looked up to reveal the effect of cut that had blinded him. He quickly reached for the bandage out of shame and wrapped around the scare on his face. He stood up for a moment just starring at Alice. He looked to Brandon for a moment and then back to Alice. Max then let out a sudden jolt towards them but was stopped by the chains. His face was inches away from the cell. His expression of pain and anger looking almost through the team.


The guards near by Kyo laughed.
" Dont get to close to freak. We only let him out when we want something dead. So he bites." the heavy set guard said laughing.

Max's eye fixed on Alice. For a moment pure shame came over the hurt and confused trainer. Perhaps Max was as lost as they were. He eased up on the chains and sat back down waiting to hear what Alice had to say.
