Well in a surprise twist, all of the teams for my school broke because of lack of attendance from other teams. So I got to the semis but didn't advance beyond that. Probably for the best though because the current topic is something I know NOTHING about.

No you misunderstand. My partner and I lost in the semis.

The topic we debated was (in a nut shell) that the Catholic Church should sell its artifacts to raise money for the poor. The topic for the round they're debating now is something to the effect of Trade Unions will force companies to stay inside the US and prevent them from going off shore.

That is an interesting topic no less. Seeing as it's one of the big topics in the country right now. Keeping jobs in the country as much as possible and less off shore. The Catholic Church on would be a bit more difficult because topics on religion are always a bit tougher. So I can see why at least. Too bad there, but sometimes there's just topics or things we can't do alone or even as a team. You'll get em next time.

This is definitely true. For some people, their religion means everything to them, and yet to others, religion means nothing. Inevitably, I think that would turn into a religious debate, which to me, they're just outright awful.
