My policy with Christmas decorations is I will not put up anything that requires a stepladder. So if it's something like wrapping garland around the door or banisters, I'm fine with that, but no stepladders. That's way too much work and it's a bit dangerous just to put up lights for a month.

Sorry to hear about your cat, though. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen cats want to play with Christmas decorations, and who can blame them? They're fascinating!
Our new house has a pretty tall living room space. Not a huge room overall, but it's tail nonetheless. We all thought it'd be pretty neat to try. We'd need a tall ladder though xD

She was one of those cats with the extra digit on her paw too. So like a thumb. One that's KNOWN to love climbing trees. She's been gone a few years now though. Yet still fresh in my memory xD. Now....we've got a big dog that gets WAY too excited sometimes xD.
