It's cold here but not unbearably so, although some snow and freezing rain we had before has left hard frozen snow and ice everywhere.

Freezing rain is the worst. Ice has killed two cars in my household, so I definitely don't mess around with it.

We haven't had an ice (or snow) storm here in a few years now. Since about 2012 or so. Ice storms are more common, but not very good. It's started fires on power lines before. Last one we had knocked out the power and took down sooooo many branches. It was kinda ceeepy overnight. You'd hear a lot of cracks and snapping before a loud THUD is heard from large branches breaking off and hitting the ground. Hard to tell if it was gonna be a branch or a large tree.

Yeah ice is serious, builds up on powerlines and trees, freezes pipes, cracks open ceilings and causes accidents. Back in 2015 we had a major amount of snow and freezing rain, some big buildings in town like this old sports arena had giant icicles on them overhanging sidewalks, bigger than me, and when it all started to thaw that spring the ceiling of where I was living literally cracked open in multiple places and started to leak heavily. Eventually had to find a new places to live over it.
