Ooh I love your art! The lines are so smooth and I love the sparkly style and energy they give off. Jirachi is my fave! :D

What a cool idea ArtFight is! It sounds like a great way to practice, as you said. Plus you get to receive some art of your characters in different styles which is always nice! It looks like it's been going on for many years :O How many people join in usually? Nice to see some cool events still exist out there!!

Hey, thanks! I like working with Paint Tool SAI, it's a great program and very fun and easy to work with. It's also a lot more merciful when it comes to correcting mistakes and making fixes and adjustments.

Yeah, that's the fun part about ArtFight, too! Seeing how people draw your characters in their style is a fun treat in itself. I'd say give it a try and see how you like it! You can take part as much or as little as you want, there's no expected commitment or pressure to participate.

For me, I'm pretty active the whole month from start to finish. It's easy to get swept up into it and go into artistic overload. xD

Cool that there are still alternatives to photoshop haha. Do you use a drawing tablet or a mouse?

I don't think I have drawn anything since the last time I participated in Secret Santa on here, sadly!! Would be fun to get back into it a bit. I have to give a lot of presentations for my work and I think it would be fun to have little cartoon pictures in them, but I've never gotten around to it. xD

I actually use SAI and Photoshop. SAI for sketching and linework and then I bring it over into Photoshop for coloring, shading, and backgrounds. I still have my version of CS6 which was the last edition of offline Photoshop that isn't hooked up to their really pesky subscription service...

Aww, it would be great to see you get back into art! Your art is always really awesome and it would be great to see more of it!

Ooh I see! I still have an old copy of CS4 on my computer. I really hate how everything is a subscription service these days!!!

Haha maybe I shall! :) My work actually switched to a new program called Affinity as Adobe prices got too high. I hated it at first but it's actually a pretty good alternative. We even switched away from Acrobat Pro for the same reason. I just looked it up and it costs AU$32 per month!! That's $384 per year per person just to edit some PDFs. Insanity!!!

Ah yeah, that's a good choice! Affinity Designer would also be my go-to program in case my version of CS6 somehow couldn't be used and I need something that feels close to it. Considering my version of CS6 is still on a CD and my current computer needs an external drive to read it, I feel like its days are numbered, unfortunately. Everything is digital these days and you see less and less of physical media, unfortunately.

But yeah, I really don't like all these subscription services, either. Photoshop should just be a program you buy once and that's it, why keep paying for something that doesn't change that much or give you anything new? CS6 hasn't changed in over a decade and it's been fine with me! I really think it just comes down to greed and I'm not surprised people have had it with Adobe.

I can't believe CD drives are almost gone! It will be the first technology I have seen the beginning and end of!! (Even though CDs were around long before I was born, my first computer only had a floppy disk drive haha). My work computer, which is a Mac, doesn't even have a USB and it's so incredibly annoying!!! I think they're taking it a bit too far!

Yeah I miss the days of just being able to buy and own things. It's the same reason I don't like buying digital games. I heard physical console games might be on the decline as it is obviously cheaper for companies to sell digital copies, but I sure hope that isn't the case!!

No USB!? That would drive me crazy. I need like almost every USB port my computer has available.

And yeah, I have a lot of old computer games still on CD and DVD storage and I'm not even sure if they would still function on a computer running Windows 10 or 11. A few programs I had lost their capability with the newer versions of operating systems. It's a shame to see them go and have to hunt around to find replacements. I'm lucky things like Audacity could replace SoundForge but certain games end up needing to be purchased again on Steam or it just becomes entirely impossible to bring them over.

Man, if something happened to Steam, that would nuke like 99% of my gaming library. Thankfully they're still going strong even after all these years. I still remember how the platform was in the early days with Half Life 2 and Counter Strike: Source. Man, it was a whole different world back then.

I ordered a new phone a fee months ago and I made the salesman swear to me that it would have a way to physically plug in a pair of headphones. It's wild how technology was exactly perfect at the precise time that I was in the most formative years of my life.

Ha ha, I get that. I still remember what we had in the 80s in terms of cassette tapes and CDs. I've gotten used to using Bluetooth stuff, but certain things I haven't changed. Unlike people who use Spotify, I still like having my music on MP3 players into organized playlists. I know it's old school but it's still the way I enjoy doing things.
