The Sky Jukebox #5

Jukebox Charizard

Hey, guys! It’s time again for the Sky Jukebox! Insert your Pokés and jump on in for the jams!

This week we’re featuring one of my favorite music projects on the web–Pokemon Reorchestrated, an ongoing compilation composed by Youtuber Skotein.

Pokemon Reorchestrated: Kanto Symphony was released on iTunes well over a year ago, and it created quite a stir. It quickly rose to the top ten most popular soundtracks on iTunes. The album features over 30 tracks of the themes from Pokemon Red and Blue version, re-imagined. The entire soundtrack plays out just like a journey through a cinematic adventure. Although most sounds are created from software, some tracks feature real performers… Like this week’s feature!

“Red’s Journey” features violinist Michaela Nachtigall, accompanied by an epic combination of strings and horns. My particular favorite part is from 1:00 to 1:25, where Michaela’s violin solo is really brought out by the virtual orchestra. Check it out in the video below, and be sure to check out the rest of Skotein’s album on Youtube!
