TCG Jump: Featured Match- PTCGO – Pooka (Plasma) vs. JKCDXX (Gothitelle/Accelgor)

Deck and Cover
Worlds is coming up soon and because of that, we will feature a match against a deck that is rising though the ranks. Gothitelle/Accelgor has a slow start up but once it gets set-up then prepare to be in for a rough match. Below we are featuring a match by Pooka from The Top Cut against this vicious deck.

Both Gothitelle and Accelgor have been around for some time now as a useable deck. The purpose of this deck is to have Accelgor to sit on the bench and while Mew EX‘s Versatile ability to copy Accelgor’s Deck and Cover attack. Mew EX and it’s energy disappear into the deck, it leaves your opponent’s Pokemon paralyze and poison. You then place Gothitelle into the active to active it’s Magic Room ability to prevent your opponent from using items such as Switch which could help it escape from this deadly trap.

The problem was that this deck couldn’t follow because it was hard to get Gothitelle out of the active. Then Keldeo EX was introduce which could simply eliminate status because of its ability, Rush In.

What has changed to make this deck able to compete against higher tier decks? The addition of Float Stone. This card made it possible to give Gothitelle a quick and easy escape to help Mew EX and the rare appearing Accelgor to take the active spot to continue the Deck and Cover onslaught. The opponent will be trapped as his heavy EX Pokemon is in the active taking poison damage with addition to Virbank City Gym being on the field while being unable to attack or use valuable item cards. Dusknoir has also been included to where damage counters an be swap from the opponent’s active Pokemon to one of their bench Pokemon. That way the opponent can’t break the lock by knocking out Gothitelle with a powered up Pokemon from the bench after their was knocked out. The active will find itself getting healed but the bench Pokemon will be getting damage thanks to Dusknoir’s Sinister Hand ability. This could then lead to a three EX Pokemon knock out in a single turn to win the game.

It isn’t guarantee that you will face Gothitelle/Accelgor but if you do, try to keep in mind what was done here to help pull a victory and avoid being place under the Item-lock. Now watch below to watch this deck in play and how Pooka was able to handle playing against the deck.
