VIDEO: 5 Must See Pokemon History Videos

Pokemon History
Happy Pokemon Day! Are you ready to learn some history about Pokemon with awesome videos?

It was 21 years ago when Pokemon was first release on the islands of Japan. We all know that eventually the series went around the world to become an international success! People from Japan, Europe, America and everywhere else can talk about Pokemon thanks to a single pair of games. Though, what is the full history of Pokemon?

Today on Pokemon Day 2017, I wish to share five videos that I personally love that tells the history of Pokemon. Some of the videos do mention the same things but I love how the creators of these videos add their own personal flair to them while saying what Pokemon means to them. It is amazing and a true testament of how Pokemon fans differ from each other. I hope that you watch these videos and really understand how amazing Pokemon is as a franchise and how incredible it is that we can celebrate Pokemon 21 year years later.

1) How Pokemon Went Viral – DNSQ

This video by Rodney from the Game Theorist is my personal favorite out of the Pokemon history videos. He breaks down the history so well to include how the games impacted not only video gaming but society as whole. He stressed the turmoil that the series had at the beginning yet makes a point about even in the beginning Pokemon had an amazing marketing machine to help it become success. He doesn’t mince words to say that Pokemon could have failed but understands that the games were a labor of love that even to this day stays true to it’s ideals.

There are so many things I could say about this video but the real beauty is at the end with an amazing quote that sums up Pokemon so well. This video is one that I rewatch every so often to remind myself of how wonderful Pokemon is. I hope that you can see that too.

2) The Great History of Pokemon (1996 – 2017)

ClickSelect has a nice video going over the game history of Pokemon. He starts with the original Red/Blue and goes all the way to 2017 with Pokemon Duel. Yes. They do include the side games. This is a through video that covers all Pokemon games!

There isn’t any voice over but I do like that they give you nice little bits of trivia for certain games. So it is worth watching if you like some nice pieces of information about certain games.

3) Pokemon Break Down: The Evolution of Gaming (ft Alex from The Dex)

This may be another video from the Game Theorist but it is from the Break Down series featuring voice over by Alex from The Dex. The video breaks down the development of Pokemon Red & Blue to the core values and programing. They discuss how a simple idea of bug catching evolved into a complex system of battling and collecting. It is amazing how this childhood idea from Japan has evolved into something that people from all over the world can enjoy.

You can see plenty of concept art that were originally made for Pokemon Red & Blue. Some of the creatures may look familiar to you while others are unusual. It is amazing at how much work was point into these two games that would later break records later on.

Though, the best part is at the end. Alex brings it back to a personal level to how Pokemon has touched everybody in some form and way. It touches a piece of our childhood when the world looks smaller. You should just watch this video and let Alex tell you how Pokemon is a part of us all.

4) Pokemon Break Down: The History of Pokemon – A Brief History

FootofaFerret gives his take on a history of Pokemon with his Brief History series. He give his special take on Pokemon’s history when it comes to their line of games. He covers it all from Red & Blue to OmegaRuby & AlphaSapphire. Surely if he had waited a few days then he could have added Sun & Moon which were announced on the same day that this video was uploaded.

The series has a lot of games but FootofaFerret talks about how all these games help Pokemon to be a big part of video gaming thanks to how it stays true to it’s roots. There may be many games but they all have the same message which resonates with the fans. A great video if you want some humor with your history.

5) 107 Pokemon Facts YOU Should Know! – ToonedUp

Lastly, we have a video from Channel Frederator Network where they cover 107 facts about Pokemon. You may know some of these facts but some may be rather new to you. It is well worth watching just for some of the light humor and little bits of information.

EXTRA: History Of Pokémon: Pokémon Red to Pokémon GO!

Here is an extra video that is an animation of all the Pokemon games. It features Pikachu going on his personal journey starting from the land of the Gameboy to his current home. It is a cute thing to watch and well worth two minutes of watching.

Happy Pokemon Day! Where do you fall on the history of Pokemon? Let us know in the comments by sharing which game was your first Pokemon game and how you take part in Pokemon now.
