Kyo swept closer to Rose. It touched her that Rose trusted her. She stayed closer to Rose than anyone else and began to worry when the poor girl seemed worn out by the whole effort of running here.

"Hey, Rose, are you all right?" Kyo asked quietly. "Is there anything I need to do for you? Do you want to be fanned off or something?" Kyo looked at the rest of the team and then added, "I know my opinion is not probably not highly valued in this point, but I'm not sure this is a safe situation. My advice we be to maybe hideout and observe versus challenging head on. However, I will stick beside all of you no matter what your decision," Kyo said.

Alice's Poketech beeped quietly. A message from Rocky had come through. 'Alice. I am coming with Reese. We will be there soon.' it read. It was good to know backup would be arriving, and a champion no less!

Suddenly, four of Surge's grunts ran around the building. They were complaining amongst themselves. It sounded like they were ordered to fix the machine that Meg had seemingly broken.

Alice didn't like the sound of an Arbok tunneling under people. She had experienced the dangerous Pokémon firsthand. If they weren't careful, they could be the next victims.

One of the grunts was getting close to their hiding place. If they didn't move, they would be spotted. "Reese and Rocky are on their way," she said. "But I don't think it's a good idea for all of us to show ourselves. But I don't think we should let them fix that machine either... Any ideas?" she asked the group.

Kyo asked if there was anything that she could do for her. "No thank you." Rose answered her. She appreciated the concern, but thought that Kyo seemed a bit too concerned.

From the bushes where they hid they could see four grunts approaching. Rose heard Alice ask if anyone had any ideas. Rose didn't want to do anything too dangerous, but she realized that Meghan might need their help, and these grunts probably knew where she was. There were five of them and four grunts.

"If we have to fight them... I think we could." Rose suggested. Suddenly she noticed that one of them was moving towards them. "Guys, we need to do something now." Rose said. She didn't want to be the one to make the decision though. Did they hide or did they attack? Her first reaction was to hide and avoid a conflict, but she knew that they would have to fight their way through eventually if they wanted to find Meghan, if she was still there. Rose figured it was safe to assume that Meghan was around somewhere, or at the very least, she had been. Rose reached for a Pokeball. She wouldn't have done anything on her own, but she was ready to fight if the others thought it was necessary.

Alice watched Rose reach for a Pokeball and nodded. "I think we need to do something, even if we just distract these guys and stop them from fixing that machine. Backup will be here soon, so let's just do our best! Almond and I are going to play a little game..."

Alice released her Furret and explained something in a whisper. The Pokemon nodded enthusiastically before darting around the group, out of the bushes and towards a nearby hole that Ty had pointed out. She dove into it, disappearing before popping up in another hole further away. The she darted across Brice's path with Quick Attack, right under his feet, before disappearing into another hole. This time she stayed in the hole, flinging mud at anyone nearby with Fury Swipes, before disappearing again and reappearing in another hole. Alice watched as Almond tried to distract and bother the grunts like a strange kind of whack-a-mole game.

As Brice got closer something came out of the ground and attacked him knocking him over. The scared trainer jumped up afraid that maybe anotehr Arbok was there as he ran towards the others mud hit him in the face blinding him and feel into a hold knocking himself out. The others hearing this reacted. The big man Mitch let go of the machine and it feel over pinning geek to the ground. Jess tried to help life it up but couldnt do much. When Mitch was hit with mud and tackled she rushed over to help him.

"Where are you going!" Geek yelled trying to get out from under it.

He wasnt in pain but he couldnt get torso out form under it.

after the group meet kiara and followed her claw marks on the trees to lt. surges hide out.
when they got there so decided paul to stay in the back of the group and just be quiet, paul was quite scared because he knew that surge was very powerfull
and that he won his gym battle out of sheer luck. but he got an idea when alice used her furret. paul opened 2 of pokeballs and sent out butterfree and jumluff and told them to
use sleep powder while the grunts were distracted by furret. but before he the pokemon went to do what they were told so asked paul alice if it was a good idea

Alice felt bad for the guy trapped under the machine, but after all, they were working for Surge. She thought of her stolen Pokemon and immediately felt less guilty.

Paul sent out his Butterfree and Jumpluff and mentioned using Sleep Powder. Alice nodded. "It's worth a try," she said. "If we can knock them all out, they won't be fixing that machine, and maybe we can also sneak past and find Meg!"

Brandon and his pokemon ran through the forest, following the mark on the trees, until his pokemon stopped just before a clearing. Brandon stopped and looked around, he could see some of the others in the group around, Alice was hidden behind a bush for some reason, then Brandon saw that his pokemon were looking in a specific direction, Brandon listened carefully, he could hear voices, Brandon crouched to hide behind bushes, Brandon gestured for his pokemon to do the same. He could see 4 grunts nearby working on some kind of badly dented machine, they didnt seem to notice any of them. That was good Brandon thought, they could watch these guys until they went back to Surge or whoever was in charge, then Brandon and the team would launch their attack on Surge, or else the person in charge if Surge isnt still there. As he watched, he took off his pack and began digging through it, finally after a minute or two, Brandon found what he was looking for, his back up pocket knife, it was slightly smaller then his last one, but would still do some sigifinicant damage to anyone it was used on. He held it in his one hand as he watched, ready to flick open the blade and use it if nessecary. More of the group began to arrive and Alice got a message that reinforcements were coming, then as Brandon and the group continued to watch, 1 of the grunts seperated from the other 3 and began heading stright for the group. If they didnt fall back soon, they would be spotted and have to battle the guy and then the others, which was fine, they could win he was sure, but they would blow their chance to be led to Surge if he was still there, that and they needed to save their pokemon's energy for the battle with Surge. The group began discussing whether or not to attack they or not, Brandon listened for a few seconds, he still thought they should wait and continue to watch these guys. Before he could say anything though, Ty mentioned something about holes in the ground that they could use for cover in an attack or something, then a couple seconds later Alice sent out her Furret and told it to use the cover of the holes to attack the men by surprise, as the furret ran off to do as it was told, Brandon sighed, knowing the choice had been made, they would fight. Brandon looked at Skipper and said to him "Skipper, whip up a huge smokescreen and have it cover the area here, only bring it a little past that machine, no further, I dont want risk giving away our presence to any other grunts or surge anymore then we will already". Skipper nodded and began to create the huge fog of smoke, as it was reaching towards the grunt heading towards them, Alice's furret, pounced and the attack began, Brandon watched on as the Furret ran very quickly from one grunt to another, attacking all grunts quickly, it was an almost perfect ambush, now the smokescreen was getting big and was almost to the machine, it was making it harder to see the grunts, as the smokescreen reached past the machine, Skipper stopped using smokescreen and looked up at Brandon, for what he should do next. Brandon saw one of the grunts who had been at the machine running to help the grunt who had almost found their hideout and been tackled, Brandon knew they needed to intercept the grunt before they reached the other grunt, Brandon pointed to the grunt and then said "Ok, my dear pokemon, intercept that grunt, keep them from reaching that other grunt" , Skipper nodded and began to gove instructions to the rest of the team. They charged out of their hiding place and moved towards the running grunt, Brandon ran out of hiding as well, following behind his pokemon. In a matter of seconds, Brandon's pokemon reached the grunt's path, Skipler, Marshtomp and Beedrill remained right in front of the grunt's path, while Primeape and Riolu moved to block the grunt's sides, finay, Arbok stayed back farther then rest of Brandon's pokemon, so that if the grunt tried to escape through any other route, he would be there to cut them off. Brandon continued to run at the grunt, he as he approached where Arbok was in position and watching the grunt, Brandon stopped and shouted to the grunt "Stop! Freeze! Your sorrounded, there is no escape, put your hands up in surrender and we wont have to hurt you or any pokemon you may have." As he said this, he flicked out the blade of his pocket knife and pointed it in the direction of the grunt in case he tried anything. Brandon gave all his pokemon a signal with his other hand that said to 'stay ready for anything'. Brandon waited to see what the grunt would do.
