    Time to become better buddies with your Buddy Pokemon!

    Pokemon GO has announced a new update to the Buddy System for early next 2020. You will be able to do more with your Buddy Pokemon such as feeding, walking and playing with them. Below are details about the new updates to the Buddy System.

    Currently the new Buddy System is available to Level 40 Players.

    Feeding Your Buddy!

    One of the first things you can do with the new Buddy System is to feed your Buddy Pokemon. By doing this, your Buddy Pokemon will enter Good Buddy status and will starts to follow you on the map.

    There will also be a new Buddy Pokemon page where you can access many new features. You will be able to play and feed your Buddy Pokemon. Each Buddy Pokemon will have a unique expression which will make it fun to change out your Buddy Pokemon every so often.

    It would be best to play with your Buddy Pokemon in the AR+ Mode.

    Perks of Buddy Pokemon

    There are going to be many different perk if you decide to grow your bond with your Buddy Pokemon. Some of these perks include help in catching Pokemon, CP Boost and more. Below are the different tiers of Buddy Pokemon status.

    • Good Buddy: Your buddy can join you on your map view! You’ll also see how your buddy feels on the buddy profile page.
    • Great Buddy: Having a hard time catching a Pokémon? Your buddy may help you out in Pokémon encounters! It can also bring you items that can help you in your Pokémon GO journey.
    • Ultra Buddy: Your buddy will help you explore the world around you by letting you know about interesting places nearby! Your buddy will also bring you Souvenirs, which you can keep track of on the buddy profile page.
    • Best Buddy: Become Best Buddies, and your buddy will sport a Best Buddy Ribbon to show off to everyone just how close you two are! Pokémon that you’re Best Buddies with can get a CP boost in combat as long as they’re still assigned as your Buddy Pokémon.
     You will be able to earn Affection with your Buddy Pokemon though battling, exploring, feeding it, and taking pictures with them. Overall, simply spending time with your Buddy Pokemon will raise their Affection. If you are able to unlock the highest Affection Mood then these perks will open up to you.
    • The distance it takes for your buddy to find Candy will be cut in half.
    • The number of hearts earned per action will double.
    • Trainers can earn bonus hearts!

    You can use the new Buddy Pokemon profile page to keep track of the Affection Hearts that you have gained with your Buddy Pokemon.

    Play with Other Buddy Pokemon

    You will also be able to interact with your Friends’ Buddy Pokemon. The new Buddy System will allow you to have a Shared AR Experience with your friends. That way you will be able to interact with each other Buddy Pokemon. This seems to be similar to the Pokemon Camp feature in Pokemon Sword & Shield.

    Though this Shared AR Experience, you will be able to take epic pictures with your Buddy and Friends’ Buddy Pokemon.

    It looks like 2020 will be the year that you get go on many epic adventures with your Buddy! Make sure to have lots of fun!
