I think the title is pretty explanatory. And I think we all know my stance...
Yes! We shouldn't deny the inactive a chance to join in a conversation from months ago.
No. Leave well alone and make a new thread. There's a reason it died.
It depends on the subject of the thread, really.
Elbub, wth is this. This isn't worthy of actual discussion. ...filthy necromancer.
I think the title is pretty explanatory. And I think we all know my stance...
I'm saying yes! If they have something meaningful to contribute to a dead thread, then why not?
I think the only time it'd not be okay is if someone revived my X and Y Delphox thread saying they hated Delphox. A bannable offense, really.

Depends on the thread. If the discussion is still relevant to today, then it's all good in my book. But if it's something like "What did you get for Christmas" in the middle of August, reviving that is just silly.
Yeah I don't really care about thread reviving. I know a lot of places have a rule of x days and then you need to make a new thread to discuss the same thing. I just think it's neater to keep it all in the old thread, even if you have to revive it. As long as the thread is still relevant, I've never had a problem with it.
For the most part, yes! If the subject is still relevant and discussion can still be garnered from it, I see no reason to have to start a new thread. Starting new threads in that sense tends to cause confusion and clutter.
But at the same time it depends. If it's like an art gallery from years ago and it's apparent the OP hasn't been online in a while, then...that's kinda a grey area. But pertaining discussion posts, yes. It helps keep the board more organized.
This is a great discussion topic, Elbub. Not something I ever thought TO be a discussion topic actually!

My original forum (PFU) was pretty militant about it, if I remember correctly. There was a rule list, and that was pretty high up. Damn harsh too; I think it was anything older than just 30 days, and you would be warned and even temporarily banned for repeat offences.
But I remember that it wasn't even just the staff; others would get angry and call people out for doing it, mini-modding, and all that. So I guess my reason for making this was wondering if anyone ever experienced this too, whether they would still get a twitch from seeing someone posting in an old thread.
I see that a lot on other forums. Even when I just look up a question or something on Google and it leads me to a forum, sometimes it gets revived and people just go nuts. xD It's not even an offence, you know? It's harmless, haha. It does depend on the subject, but you know.
As someone who is the owner of a forum myself a mod on many others, I have very little to no problem with it. As said above, it is harmless and keeps things neat and organized. Too many topics make a section cluttered and then you cant find anything. Now THAT should be what makes someone twitch, not reviving a thread that is still relevant lol.
On my forum me and my staff have a system of 'manual purging' , where, say there is a birthday thread, we leave it open for maybe a month or two at most, then we lock it, then a month later move it to the trash section. This keeps the general discussion area nice and neat and not overly cluttered. The general discussion on my forum is still within two pages by doing this and I like it like that. No reason to keep a thread like that open forever, you can just create a new topic for it next year. Lol
