Pokemon has announced the a brand new TCG set that will be coming this May! “Astral Radiance” has been officially announced.
Set Details
This set will have Dialga and Palkia as the featured Pokemon in their Origin Forms. Though, there seems to be a secret third featured Pokemon in the shadows, Darkrai. “Astral Radiance” was heavily inspired by Pokémon Legends: Arceus. This is due to cards from this set that were inspired on the Hisui region.
A brand new mechanic will be introduced in “Astral Radiance” called Radiant Pokémon. The new Radiant Pokémon mechanic will allow you to have a Shiny Pokemon in your deck with a powerful Ability or attack. Though, you can only have one Radiant Pokemon in your deck.
“Astral Radiance” will have plenty new VSTAR Pokemon along with another edition to the Trainer Gallery. Expect to see plenty of amazing art featuring Pokemon with several different popular human characters.
This set will have over 180 cards. Below is the breakdown for this set.
- Three Radiant Pokémon
- Eight Pokémon VSTAR
- 21 Pokémon V and two Pokémon VMAX
- More than 20 Trainer cards
Set Make Up
“Astral Radiance” will be made up of several different Japanese sets.
There will be cards from Japan’s Time Gazer and Space Juggler sets. In practical, that is where Origin Form Dialga V and Origin Form Palkia V is from.
The Hisuian Starter Evolutions are all from Japan’s Battle Region. They will all have Pokemon V and Pokemon VSTAR.
The Elite Trainer Box indicate that Darkrai will be included in this set. That means we will see Darkrai V and Darkrai VSTAR. These cards are from Darkrai VSTAR and Lucario VSTAR decks. So we may see Lucario V and Lucario VSTAR.
It is unsure where the Character Rares that will make up the Trainer Gallery for “Astral Radiance”. We are still missing some Character Rares from Japan’s VMAX Climax. Though, there are some new Character Rares featuring Hisuian Pokemon from Battle Region.
Release Date
“Astral Radiance” will be release on May 27, 2022. Prereleases will run from May 14th through May 22nd.
