Pokémon GO Water Festival 2022 Introduces New Pokémon

Things are about to get wet…

That’s how you know the Water Festival is back in Pokémon GO. Splash into the fun as you encounter new Pokémon in the wild, new Pokémon in Raids, and even a new Shiny Pokémon…*insert mild shock gif.

There will even be a Global Challenge with an end goal so massive, it might actually take a considerable amount of time. Let’s dive into everything the Water Festival has to offer this year.

Event Details

Time and Date
May 12, at 10:00 a.m. to May 20, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Global Challenge
Beginning a day early, on May 11, at 1:00 p.m. and running to May 21 at 10:00 a.m. a Global Challenge will be available. This challenge will require Trainers to catch a combined 600 million Water-Type Pokémon. The reward for completion is 2x the catch candy for all players.

New Research Tasks
A new Timed Research will be available during the Water Festival. During this Timed Research you will encounter a costumed Lapras and the newly introduced, Dewpider. Upon successful completion of this you will be rewarded with 50 Gyarados Mega Energy, 1000 XP, 1000 Stardust.

The forth Special Research of the Season of Alola will be focused around Poni Island. This new Research storyline entitled “A Poni Adventure” will be rolling out to trainers on May 10 at 10:00 a.m. local time. If you complete it and the other Special Research from the Season, you will unlock an end-of-season Special Research line.
