Some big news was dropped during the opening ceremonies for Worlds 2018!

Worlds 2018 is under way with the best players in the world battling it out for the title of Champion. Though, some big TCG and movie news was dropped.

Tag Team Pokemon GX Reveal!

One of the biggest pieces of news hitting the World’s stage is the reveal of Tag Team Pokemon GX cards! This new mechanic is the next evolution of for Pokemon GX!

Tag Team Pokemon GX cards features two Pokemon of the same type on the same card. These cards have a huge amount of HP and attack power. Though, they also have a new Tag Team Rule where if the card is knocked out then your opponent takes three prize cards.

One of the first Tag Team Pokemon GX cards reveal was Pikachu & Zekrom GX. This card has a whopping 240 HP and features Pikachu and Zekorm together. It has a single attack that cost three Lightning energy that does 150 damage and accelerates energy on to it or another. It has a powerful GX attack that has the potential to knockout two Pokemon. These Tag Team Pokemon GX are no laughing matter.

The new Tag Team Pokemon GX mechanic is expected to be release soon. By the looks of the set symbol, it will be the next main set in Japan and the United States. If so then players in the United States can expect to see Pikachu & Zekrom GX in the March 2018 set.

Detective Pikachu Movie

The logo for the Detective Pikachu movie was also revealed at Worlds. Also in attendtance was the director Rob Letterman. Actors Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton were also in attendance.
While they were on the stage, they had players chant “Pikachu”. This will be used in the film.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu will be release in theaters on May 10, 2019.
