VGC Regional Champions to Have Day 2

Play Pokemon
Ready to play two days of VGC?

Because soon VGC will feature two days of amazing battles for Pokemon trainers! This change has now been added to an update to the Play! Pokemon Tournament Rules Handbook. Thus, now VG Regional Championship events will use the same 2-day tournament structure as the Pokemon TCG events.

What Does That Mean?

Previously, no matter how many players were taking part at the VG tournament at a Regionals, players would play ten rounds. Then, the only matches to take place on Sunday for the second day would be Top 8.

This is different in TCG where they have a 2-day tournament structure. If there are more then 227 players then players will only need to play nine rounds on Saturday for Day 1. Now, anybody who has x-2 record or Top 32 get to play in the second day on Sunday. This means players will play 5 to 6 more rounds before starting Top 8.

Now VG will implement this structure for their tournaments. That means VG will play less rounds on Saturday. Granted, they will play more matches but it will surely make sure that there is breathing room on Saturday. Also, it means that the best of the best will be on stage for Top 8.

When Will We See 2-Day Structure for VGC?

This change will go into effect for all upcoming Regionals. Starting at the ones below.

Knoxville Regionals- February 24–26, 2023
Bochum Regionals- February 25–26, 2023

Best of luck to those are on the Victory Road for VGC to Yokohama!
