One Year Anniversary for Pokemon Champions Podcast!

Pokemon Champions Podcast
We are the champions!

And that is what the Pokemon Champions Podcast wants to make you feel after listening to them! Especially now that they are celebrating one year of being on the podcast airwaves!

One year ago, Dozer and Zac came together to create your one stop shop for all your Pokemon TCG and VGC news. They wanted to tackle the competitive meta with stats and information that players can use to help players improve their game.

This team certainly do act like champions. Dozer brings years of podcasting experience along with VGC know-how. Meanwhile, Zac has plenty of TCG knowledge. Together they are the champion duo. When they are on the mic then nothing can stop them from putting a show together. That is obvious with a year of shows that features guests, news coverage of the latest tournaments and plenty of numbers to let you know which Pokemon or decks have seen the most play.

The Pokemon Championship Podcast has been on for one year. Because of that, we at Pokemon Crossroads reached out to Dozer and Zac to ask about their top five picks for episodes in the last year. They have certainly pick some great episodes and are well worth the listen if you want to head on the road to become a champion!

Interviewing the TCG Master (Feat. Stéphane Ivanoff)
Our show started around NAIC so we had to deal with the break between NAIC and Worlds for a lot of our early episodes. This gave us the opportunity to try and do some interviews. The obvious choice for this was to invite Stephane Ivanoff, 2 time NAIC Champion from the TCG Masters Division, to talk about his run and a few other things.

Interviewing TCG Commentator Kenny Wisdom
This episode was following up our Worlds Coverage, and we wanted to put some emphasis into something that went just beyond players, so we reached out to Kenny Wisdom for an interview. We got to talk a lot about how commentary adds to a competitive scene and how some of the behind-the-scenes production of some things work. It’s a really cool discussion.

Pokemon Sword & Shield Reflective: The GOOD and the…Mediocre!?
The release of Sword and Shield was a very frustrating time for everyone. But now that games were in hand, and we had played through them, we were finally able to sit down and give it an honest review. While this episode is out of our usual content wheelhouse, it proved to be one of our most popular and was a really cool discussion.

Dallas Regional (TCG Top 8, VGC Top 16)
The problem for picking out a lot of our episodes for a feature like this, is that as most of our content is reporting results which means old episodes can feel dated. But Dallas was such an impactful and massive event that looking at the results is always worthwhile. Not only did the top 2 VGC teams (piloted by Winner Aaron Traylor and Runner-up Bingjie Wang) have big and lasting impacts on the metagame, but this was one of the few high-profile expanded events that we got to cover in the TCG. Expanded needs more love.

Oceania International Championships (VGC & TCG Top 8)
The OCIC is the only International Championships that we were able to cover in recent times. The event took place while COVID-19 was slowly starting to creep into the public mind, and the results from the event are something worth looking at because of that.

Dozer and Zac have put a lot into this podcast. Especially now with COVID-19 putting a damper on the official competitive play meta. Though, these two guys keep pushing on like the champions that they are! Make sure to let them know how much of a champions they are by wishing them a happy anniversary! You can reach the podcast proper @PkmonChampions or reach the hosts Dozer and Zac in person! Happy anniversary!
